In a joint op-ed in Modern Healthcare, Sr. Mary Haddad, RSM, president and CEO of CHA and Richard J. Pollack, president and CEO of the American Hospital Association, make the case that "healthcare leaders and policymakers must strive to ensure that all hospitals have the resources needed to provide the right care to everyone in their communities." They add that "for hospitals and health systems, sustained financial losses make preserving 24/7 access, quality and innovation incredibly difficult in the short term and nearly impossible in the long term."

Meet Shawnette Alston, M.D., Residency Program Director for Internal Medicine at Saint Mary's Hospital. Deeply rooted in her faith, Dr. Alston takes great pride in her responsibility to care for patients, and the residents she mentors, with respect, generosity, and love. "I never thought of myself as inspiring people because I truly, truly try to live the way I believe God wants me to because that's who I answer to. If that inspires others, well I am so grateful for that." said Dr. Alston.

Congratulations to DAISY Award winner Michele Doolittle, RN. 🌼🏆 This is Michele's second DAISY Award! The DAISY Award (The DAISY Foundation) is a nationwide program that rewards and celebrates the clinical skill and compassionate care nurses give daily. St. Joseph's Health Hospital is proud to be a DAISY Award Hospital Partner, recognizing our nurses with this special honor. Michele was nominated by a patient who connected with her as a virtual nurse, describing her as “incredible.” “Michele was full of empathy and compassion and information. She handled all my questions extremely quickly and explained everything. A truly one-of-a-kind human. She is amazing. She lifted my spirits when I was so frustrated and depressed.” Please join us in thanking Michele for her virtual nursing skills that put patients more at ease, and congratulating her for this nomination.
