Recently, Liberty New Brunswick employees hosted a very meaningful Liberty Day at First Steps, a nonprofit offering housing and support to young pregnant and parenting women. The organization provides access to community programs, private bedrooms, meals, life skills education, and 24/7 support. Over two days, Liberty volunteers enhanced the community space by: • Replacing rotten deck boards • Building a raised planter with flowers • Creating a sand table for children • Installing a chalkboard • Painting the deck • Adding decorative accessories • Painting a customized wall mural Our gratitude goes to the Liberty volunteers: Shawn McGouey, Zen Hiew, Christopher Ridgway, Jacob Arbeau, Michael Cromwell, Kevin Ellis, Joey Cyr, Joel Comeau, Jason Walsh, and especially Sarah Jardine for her exceptional organization. #feelgoodfriday #belongingatliberty #webelongatliberty #thisisourliberty

Members of the Strategic Projects and Environmental teams recently used a Liberty Day to fuel students at Stapleton Elementary in Joplin, Missouri, with hot dogs and hamburgers so they had energy for the school’s annual Field Day activities. The event included several fun games – including sack races, scooter races, and limbo – as kids celebrated the end of the 2023-24 school year. “There was a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities,” said Matthew Livingston, Program Manager I-Environment. “We were behind the scenes cooking for the event and helping the kitchen staff.” Thank you to Matthew, Gregory Jarman, Shaen Rooney, Kimberly Boesl, and Matthew Whiteley for taking time to help Stapleton students celebrate! Liberty is Relishing in Community Spirit in Joplin, Missouri! #feelgoodfriday #belongingatliberty #webelongatliberty #thisisourliberty

Today is Juneteenth —a holiday celebrating the emancipation of those who were enslaved in the United States. The holiday originated in Galveston, Texas, and is now celebrated annually on June 19 throughout the United States. Over the years, Juneteenth has been known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, Liberation Day, Second Independence Day and Emancipation Day, and is a combination of the words June and nineteenth. It is a time for reflection and rejoicing, and a time for assessment, and self-improvement. #juneteenth #belongingatliberty #webelongatliberty #thisisourliberty

To continue the conversation around safety this month, we'd like to touch on gas appliance safety. Like all appliances, certain safety precautions should be followed. Here are some tips on appliance safety: • Follow manufacturer instructions when operating appliances and keep all appliance user manuals together in one convenient location. • Never use your gas range to heat your home or apartment. • Keep flammable materials away from any natural gas or electrical appliance that could be a source of ignition.
