This week while Observing children boarding on school bus, thoughts stuck in my mind. They demonstrate unity in diversity, coming from varied backgrounds yet creating a harmonious environment. This is a lesson for workplaces to value and respect diversity. Children help each other board, teaching us about support and assistance in teamwork. Waiting their turn, they show patience and respect, a crucial element for workplaces to value all contributions. Clear communication is seen when children inform the driver about their destination. This highlights the importance of effective communication in a team. Continuous learning happens as children share stories and experiences, encouraging a culture of learning in workplaces. Lastly, they understand everyone's role in boarding the bus, reminding us to appreciate everyone's unique contributions at work. By applying these lessons at work, we can foster humility and teamwork. This leads to a more empathetic and successful environment. #teamworkmatters #HumilityInAction #CollaborationMatters

This one time… at band camp… #waybackwednesday This picture was taken during the summer almost 30 YEARS ago at band camp. Band camp had pros and cons I remember, but so so did many different camps I attended: basketball camps, wilderness camps, theatre camp. I have fond and fun memories of all of them. But attending summer camp was more than just fun—it ended up being a foundational experience that equipped me with essential skills that I use today. Here are four of them…. 🌟 Leadership: Summer camps often provide opportunities to lead groups in activities and projects. As a camp counselor, I learned to guide and mentor younger campers, a skill that has translated well into leading teams in the workplace. Whether managing projects or inspiring colleagues, the leadership skills honed at camp are invaluable. 🤝 Teamwork: Working together to achieve common goals is a cornerstone of the summer camp experience. From organizing a camp-wide game to collaborating on a group performance, I developed a strong sense of teamwork that I now use in professional environments. Effective collaboration with diverse team members is crucial for success in any career. 🌍 Problem-Solving: Camp life is full of unexpected challenges, from navigating outdoor adventures to resolving interpersonal conflicts. These experiences sharpened my problem-solving skills, enabling me to think on my feet and find creative solutions. This adaptability is essential in today's fast-paced work environments. 🎨 Creativity: Camps often encouraged creativity through arts, crafts, and innovative games. Designing and participating in these activities for campers nurtured my ability to think outside the box. This creativity is now a key asset in my professional life, allowing me to approach projects with fresh perspectives and innovative ideas. How have your early experiences shaped your professional skills? What camps did you attend? #Leadership #CareerSkills #Teamwork

I opened a new school without internet. 6 full-time teachers. 2 part-time enrichment teachers. 80 kindergarten students And 1 mobile wifi hot spot. This was not the initial plan but it was the cards we were dealt. Living in rural America means that internet isn't alway easy to come by and high-speed internet is an extreme luxury. So we waited... And waited... Until mid October. From that experience our team developed a culture of flexibility, adaptability and strategic planning. What's an experience that you had with a team that strengthened the team's culture?

Business Development Executive @ ONVU Learning | New Business Development, Social Networking, championing superhero teachers
🎉 Weekly Wrap - Achievement 🎉 As we head into the weekend, take a moment to reflect on your achievements this week. For me, it has been an amazing week filled with growth opportunities and challenges. Driving to London for the TDT Event, which was a huge success, despite a train strike. The rest of the week was spent talking with education leaders about ONVU Learning and empowering teachers. As the quote goes, stepping out of our comfort zones and challenging existing habits is key to individual growth and success. On a personal note, I completed dry January this week and haven't had a drop of alcohol. It feels great to be motivated, focused, and determined. My perspective on alcohol has changed, and interestingly, I'm not overly bothered about having "a drink." My takeaway from this week is that a sense of achievement comes from challenging ourselves and actively seeking growth opportunities. What gives you a sense of achievement? How does it feel? Let's all continue to challenge ourselves and strive for growth and success. Have a great weekend! #growthmindset #empoweringteachers #wellbeingatwork

How about this quote from one of our newest student-athlete ambassadors, Bowdoin College's Carlton Steinberg? ..... "The quote 'To achieve goals you’ve never achieved before; you need to start doing things you’ve never done before' perfectly encapsulates the lessons of personal growth. Being a student-athlete requires immense dedication, commitment, and grit to excel on the field and in the classroom. I believe the lessons we learn in the field transcend to the classroom, in our careers, and life. Among other lessons, student-athletes learn the importance of working within a team and learning how to resolve conflicts between teammates. Being able to communicate ideas, opinions, and feelings to our peers is integral to conquering adversity and achieving team goals. Cultivating an inclusive and tight-knit environment promotes camaraderie which is something I love most about being a student-athlete."
