Have you ever heard of a 'Bridge' Day? We hadn't either until our structural design team told us! Bridge Days are weekdays that bridge a holiday and weekend... Who knew?! To celebrate, we're highlighting a unique bridge that our structures team recently completed in Cuba. The Guantanamo Bay Bridge Rehabilitation project involved the structural repair of a bridge built in the 1950s located at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, otherwise known as GTMO. Under this design-build project, the team successfully repaired the 200-foot-long bridge, extending its lifespan and ensuring safe passage over the Guantanamo River. Did you know the James River area attracts over 3.5 million visitors annually? 🌊 Since 2013, the James River Association (JRA) has launched its annual James River Watch Program, which runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day. This initiative relies on a team of volunteers to collect weekly water samples for the James River Watch Map, which helps monitor the river's health and keeps swimmers, paddlers, and boaters informed about the local river conditions. Last week, Timmons Group's urban design team volunteered with the James River Watch Program, collecting water samples at Mayo Bridge, Tredegar, and Rocketts Landing. We're proud to be part of the initiative that supports the health of our local watershed and community. Thank you to our friends at JRA for your ongoing efforts to protect the James and keep our community safe! Heading out to the James this weekend? Check out the James River Watch map every Friday for the latest report >> https://lnkd.in/e2itp6qB #UrbanStormwater #RVA #Recreation

In May, the Richmond Office of Equitable Transit and Mobility (OETM), part of the Department of Public Works (DPW), launched a #RichmondConnects initiative called "Lighter Quicker Cheaper" (LQC). This initiative brought a temporary Pop-Up Park to the Scott's Addition neighborhood. The pop-up park extended the existing West Broad Street Green/Pollinator Park, offering the community a preview of what a permanent expansion could look like. The project aims to create a larger, more enjoyable space for residents, enhance pedestrian safety, and test new safety, security, and climate resiliency features for long-term application. Increasing opportunities for walkable neighborhoods is a goal that helps strengthen the City's equitable transportation efforts.
