Recently, 28 students were conferred by Leonardo the end-of-year diplomas for the fourth edition of the #AerotechAcademy, the advanced training course on cutting-edge engineering topics, born from the collaboration between our company and the Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II. Thanks to the synergy with the Neapolitan University, the Aerotech Academy links training and the workplace, giving impetus to the skills necessary both for a large industry like #Leonardo and for small and medium-sized enterprises in the supply chain, generating competitiveness and #innovation, for the benefit of territories in which it operates.   The fourth edition of the master’s degree explored advanced topics of engineering research and applications of interest to the manufacturing industry, using innovative teaching and learning methodologies. During the final ceremony, all the participants presented their project works, which, by inserting themselves into company’s areas of interest, contributed to exploring new business lines. The main guiding themes were innovative materials and processes for aeronautical components, intended for new supersonic aircraft, new technologies for the design and creation of #eVTOL (electric Vertical Take Off & Landing), environmental #sustainability, recycling, optimization of the use of raw materials and the reduction of climate-altering emissions.   After the success of participation seen in the last four years, registrations are already open for the fifth edition of the Aerotech Academy, aimed at students with an educational qualification at least equal to a three-year degree, to be selected through a specific call. #Leonardo met with trade union representatives at the headquarters of Unindustria in Rome today to announce a further step in the diversification of its Grottaglie production site, a plant originally built for the Boeing 787 #Dreamliner programme.   During today's meeting with trade union representatives, Leonardo announced that it had selected the Grottaglie site for its particular features as the location for final assembly of the company’s #AW609 tiltrotor in Italy.   Leonardo has for some time been diversifying production at the Taranto plant through industrial activities under latest-generation programmes such as the Eurodrone wing, the fuselage of Vertical Aerospace's VX4 electric aircraft, and the fuselage of the prototype of Leonardo's remotely piloted Proteus helicopter. These programmes, still in the embryonic phase, already occupy a workforce of more than 100 people.   The development of further strategic initiatives aims to redefine new scenarios for the Grottaglie site as part of Leonardo's broader strategy of ensuring a sustainable future for its Aerostructures business area, in which approximately 300 million euros have already been invested between 2019 and 2023. https://lnkd.in/dyifmscJ   #LDO_PR

#Leonardo's Board of Directors, convened today under the Chairmanship of Stefano Pontecorvo, examined and unanimously approved the results for the first quarter 2024.   “We are fully focused on executing the Industrial Plan. The consolidation of the defence core business progresses very well thanks to the acceleration of the digitalization processes, creating new revenue streams and generating cost efficiencies, embedding AI and Digital Twin in all product catalogues and working on the Digital Continuum of the Armed Forces,”  Roberto Cingolani, CEO and GM of Leonardo, stated. “The future activities are shaped by the reorganization and governance changes creating the new Space Division, boosting Cyber Security activities and developing a strategy to leverage Generative AI and multidomain capabilities across all Leonardo platforms. The efficiency and saving plan is fully in place and it is on track to achieve full year targets. Finally, for the inorganic growth of the Plan, we are continuing to strengthen international alliances taking an active role in promoting a European Defence Framework. #Leonardo's Board of Directors, chaired by Stefano Pontecorvo, has unanimously approved the 2024-2028 Industrial Plan. Today Leonardo presents the details of its Industrial Plan to the financial community, including 2024 Guidance and medium-term financial targets. “The Industrial Plan has defined a strategy for unlocking the business growth potential of Leonardo delivering stronger top-line growth, double digit profitability by 2026 and doubled FOCF by the end of the Plan.
