Mean while back on the Overlook Ranch. It’s the first time I’ve used the Range Ward Razer Grazer. It was the perfect solution to make an exclusion zone to keep cattle out of the storage areas under the barn. I could have picked a less rainy day to prevent the two shocks I earned, but what would have been the fun in that? I am very happy with the system. It provides limitless versatility and plenty of persuasions for man and bovine alike to respect its boundaries.

We had a great time at this field day! Thank you to the hosts, Solar Sheep!
Last week my connectFirst Credit Union colleagues and I had the opportunity to attend a field day at Whispering Cedars Ranch with our members, Janna & Ryan Greir. Always innovating at the ranch and with Solar Sheep, they brought together folks that they work with to stay ahead of the curve in their operations. Sarah Schumacher from Wheatland County and Sonia Bloom from Foothills Forage & Grazing shared some great grants that are available to producers. One of which is the ALUS grant, which Whispering Cedars has recently used to plant around 700 trees, to create a protected area for wetland wildlife on their property. I'm from the community and am personally excited to see how it increases biodiversity for the area. Neil from Range Ward demoed their very cool mobile fencing, which utilizes solar charging technology so that you can graze anywhere. Jeff from OneCup AI shared the incredibly interesting work that they're doing in using AI to help livestock producers manage their flocks/herds, ensuring everyone is healthy and thriving. Solar Sheep uses the technology both on the farm, and with a mobile unit onsite at the solar fields when the flock is out grazing there. The technology behind it is really something else, and I encourage you to check the work that they're doing out. It's game changing. Thank you so much to Ryan & Janna for inviting us out for a day full of learning and lambs. You really can't ask for much more than that.

Great list of resources! Thank you for including!

How to Make a Living Restoring the Planet: Young people are looking for meaning in their careers, where they can make an impact. Many, including myself are dedicated to solving the environmental crises we face. The problem for many is, how can you actually make a good, stable living doing something meaningful? My path became bison & grassland management which morphed into the emerging field of regenerative agriculture and agroecology. In my world of regenerative agriculture, there are plenty of opportunities for people to make their living doing something positive for the world. We desperately need more viable paths for young people to engage in regenerative agriculture to attract top talent. Here’s a list of the fulfilling careers I’ve seen in my decade of land stewardship and some of the amazing people involved: - Farmer & rancher — This could be as an owner/operator or manager Meagan Lannan, Travis Krause, Casey Toews, Cate Havstad-Casad, Alejandro Carrillo, Tony Malmberg, Andrea Malmberg, Hobbs Magaret - Regenerative ag coach & consultant Understanding Ag, LLC - Experts in Regenerative Ag, Allen Williams, Gabe Brown, Brian Dougherty, Rachel Larsen - Soil health educator Nicole Masters, Liz Haney, Kevin Elmy, Ray Archuleta - Tribal lands manager & advocate Marlon Weston, Kelsey Scott, Diandra Bruised Head - Land monitoring Ryan White, Jackie Enloe Eshelman - Conservation easement developer - Food supply chain business Andy Cato, Marshall Seedorff - Marketing Mitch Hinrichs - Regenerative finance Koen van Seijen, Martin Reiter - Ecosystem service project developer Ben Veres, Kevin Silverman - Regenerative ag equipment supplier Gary Lewis (Bioagtive Emissions Farming), Ryan Cummins (Rangeward) - Real estate professional Sonja Howle, Colter DeVries, AFM, ALC - Ranch Investor - Water cycle and infrastructure design Darren J. Doherty CPAg AIA (Regrarians), Zach Weiss Ag extension agent Soil testing & lab technician Yamily Zavala Melissa Arcand After a post from Ed Roberson yesterday on his 8 years as host of the Mountain & Prairie podcast, it had me reflect on the impact people like Ed, Clay Conry (Working Cows) and Kate Kavanaugh (Mind, Body & Soil) have on their listeners by sharing stories, perspectives and inspiration. It's these connections that inspire action on the ground, creating new opportunities for stewardship at the soil surface. What are some unique and emerging opportunities for people to gain financial security WHILE making a difference for our environment? #regenerativeagriculture #regenag #soilhealth #ecology #restoration #farming #ranching #bison #cattle #conservation
