Sustainability expert Gina Rizzi joins us on the latest episode of the Growing Golf podcast to address how the #golf industry can respond to its environmental critics. It comes on the back of findings from our social listening report, Golf & Social Media: Sustainability, which revealed the extent of negative sentiment towards golf courses on social media, highlighting the need to “speak up” about the positive contribution golf courses make to their local economy, society and environment. Gina explains how the golf industry can tackle misinformation, the role superintendents have to play in environmental stewardship and educating the wider public plus the practical actions golf course businesses can take to communicate their sustainability efforts. Let's talk trees... They are vital to golf courses in so many ways, providing: 🌳 shape and structure to holes 🌳 habitat to wildlife 🌳 carbon storage Not to mention the positive impact they are known to have on golfers' mental wellbeing. Mimosa Plus Golf Club in the Philippines has demonstrated just how important by deploying an app to geotag and track every single tree on its course. “The majority of golf clubs in South-East Asia still rely on paper or Excel files to track tree locations," says Director of Golf Rory Young, PGA Greenstand's Treetracker app will allow Mimosa Plus to log every tree on the course by the end of the year, giving a deeper understanding of the layout and the trees' environments. Hit the link in the comments to find out why tree tracking is becoming an increasingly important part of sustainable golf course management. #SyngentaGolf #GrowingGolf

“I can’t be what I can’t see.” That’s what one female turf professional told Karen Proctor at a conference in #Australia, where just 1.4% of turf professionals are female. It’s a comment that made Proctor realize she needed to step out of her comfort zone and speak up as a female leader in the #golf industry. Host Gary Firkins sits down with Karen for an all-new episode of the Growing Golf podcast. Karen shares her inspiring journey from growing up in Saudi Arabia to becoming a vocal advocate for women leaders in the golf industry, including her time as the first serving female secretary for the Asian Golf Industry Federation | AGIF.
