The Enactus National Competition kicked off, and we have a winner : The University of the Western Cape has been nominated to compete at the Enactus World Cup Competition in October 🏆 ! Our Youth Education and Entrepreneurship Program, alongside Schneider Electric Foundation, has formed global alliances with #Enactus. This partnership aims to equip university students with essential entrepreneurial leadership and social innovation skills, fueling their passion for driving positive change within their local communities through sustainable projects and initiatives. This year, the University of the Western Cape team clinched the championship spot in South Africa after showcasing two groundbreaking digital solutions: ⚡ Bridging the digital skills gap for youth and empowering small and medium enterprises through targeted training. ⚡ An EdTech startup focused on improving literacy levels among children aged 5 to 13. The next generation of Impact Makers will be competing for the Enactus National Competition in several countries in the upcoming few weeks. 🚀 As an Impact Company, #SchneiderElectric, and the Schneider Electric Foundation, have a longstanding partnership with Enactus, an international NGO dedicated to inspiring students to drive positive change through entrepreneurial action within local communities and around the world. Schneider Electric oversees the implementation of the #EnactusCoreProgram in Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Mexico, France, Guatemala, and Egypt. This partnership is set to expand to additional countries soon. 🙌 Aligned with our Sustainability Impact, particularly #SSI11 to train 1 million young people by 2025, this partnership aims to empower over 108 000 young people to engage in their communities, foster innovation, and equip them with the necessary skills to excel and partake in the energy transition. The energy sector is rapidly evolving, with an anticipated 139 million job openings by 2030. Creating a growing demand for skilled professionals. Last week we had a breakfast discussion on "How to Make ESG Work?" facilitated by the American Chamber of Commerce in South Africa in collaboration with the French South African Chamber of Commerce & Industry - FSACCI and the #BelgiumChamberofCommerceinSouthAfrica at #ForvisMazars in Johannesburg, South Africa. The agenda covered understanding the basics of ESG, alongside of @Dr. Marie Parramon Gurney, CEO and Chief Transformative Impact Officer at #SKULTCHA, covering “Environment” and @Lusani Nelufule-Mugivhi, Head of Governance and Compliance at #DiscoveryHealthMedicalScheme, sharing her expertise on "Governance", #SchneiderElectric’s Global Leader of Training and Education Affairs, Zanelle Dalglish, dived in the “Social” aspect of ESG. Zanelle clearly defined Schneider Electric’s Corporate Citizenship positioning as the “Human Pillar of Sustainability”. She backed this up by sharing some of the South African social projects of our Youth Education and Entrepreneurship program with the support of Schneider Electric Foundation. These projects included: 👉The French Southern African Schneider Electric Education Center (F’SASEC) Network, with its centre of excellence at Vaal University of Technology, promoting vocational and practical training and initiating equal opportunities for all. 👉The 4IR Experience Room at University of Johannesburg that offers tertiary students with real-time demonstrations of 4IR technologies and Schneider Electric's EcoStruxture on full display. 👉The Gwakwani Smart Rural Village and Bakery, in partnership with the University of Johannesburg which is positioned as an eco-friendly project to provide the rural village with solar solutions to counteract water, energy, food and employment challenges. 👉 A local community project in partnership with the Emthonjeni Community Centres, where 1000 people in the informal settlement of Zandspuit were provided #AccessToEnergy through our donation of solar lights, as well as streetlights at the centre. Schneider Electric, via the Equipment Donation project, has donated equipment for a container that is being converted into a living space for students at Lycée Réné Cassin Tarare, in France. In this in co-design study, together with École Centrale de Lyon, the container is being transformed into a functional living space in the high school courtyard. 🏠 Among the equipment which is being installed is an electrical distribution box and small equipment for internal supply. ⚡🔧 Design by Ecole Centrale de Lyon students is complete and the container renovation is underway. At the beginning of the new school year students Lycée Pro Melec will finish wiring the container. Bravo for the support of this project by the IPE Ingénieurs Pour l'Ecole Guy Vial seconded to the national education in the academy of Lyon. Local equipment donations, like this, to education partners help contribute to Schneider Electric’s goal of training 1 million youth by 2025.
