This position is responsible for preparing platelet products that meet the safety, purity, and potency requirements of the FDA and AABB. In addition, the position is responsible for sampling and testing QC samples.
Essential Functions
PTL Functions
Perform all functions of PTL/PCL Tech I
Independently performs review of tasks.
Assists with POCT site quality control records and monthly quality control records.
Assists with calibration of hematology analyzers.
Assists with procedure and equipment validations.
Ensures all non-conforming products are reported.
Performs Nageotte counts.
Ensures monthly inventory, quality monitoring and supply inventory is complete.
Performs other review as needed.
PCL Functions
Import test results from donor testing provider.
Applies holds and removes holds as instructed.
Reviews documents to ensure non-conforming products are held.
Handles potentially contaminated products.
Ensures all non-conforming products are accounted for and segregated.
Performs review of records for lot release
Performs label stress testing.
Ensures weekly and monthly inventory, quality monitoring is complete.
Identifies problems and notifies Supervisor / designee and responsible department.
Performs other reviews as needed.
Education
Bachelor of Science (Biology, Chemistry or other related Science. ) Must provide a copy of the transcript.
