IT Change Manager
Leans more toward Organizational IT Change PM than an IT PMO. Their group deals with IT Systems, but this role would be more of an Org Change PM.
Looking at candidates more on the Organizational change side; ideally within technology companies – and as stated above, weighs more heavily on the organizational change part.
The Role:
- Sr Organizational IT Change Management role – There’s going to be creation of a new team that is focusing on Machine Learning and AI components, so there is a PM need for Organizational Change/Organizational Development of this new team moving forward.
- Mappings of existing job roles to what this new organization looks like, aligning it to the overall goals of this organization
- Determining what new roles need to happen
- Looking for a PM who has executive presence, a background in organizational change methodologies, organizational change management
- Someone who has done a lot of in-person execution and requirements finding interviews that can pull together a lot of questions and help create this organizational hierarchy/organizational processes of this new team.
- This will lean towards a couple of phases:
Phase 1:
- What does our current organization looks like?
- What are our skills?
- What are our processes?
Phase 2:
- What is the future of the organization?
- Organizational goals and alignment there?
- Do that mapping and the execution of the creation of that organization
From a requirement’s perspective:
- Strong Project Management skills. They run their projects on Smartsheets or Jira (either will do)
- Someone that understands data and analytics. All of their PM data rolls into their PowerBI Analytics tools to help them determine what are there risks, and if the projects are on time or tracking to completion.
- It would be great plus if they had technical background, been around media & entertainment, but it’s not a must have
- Ideally someone who has done organizational change previously, perhaps experience with merger and acquisitions
- Someone who knows how to transform, people, processes, and organizations
- Waterfall Methodology would be required, as this is more like requirements gathering than execution
- Exposure to AI / Machine Learning, some terminology may be useful to understand, but not necessarily needing to lead any AI type projects – This is a nice to have
- The timing of when the new team will be formed and be transitioned is still to be determined, so there will be a lot of fact finding, discovery, project gathering that will determine what is the future state, and then an execution of that movement, and then stays until maintenance operation mode.
3-4 days/week onsite, as will be working with executives
Also, a CX (Change Mgt) Coach could potentially work in speaking with executives. That person would still be in charge of creating what is the project plan? How do I execute? What are all the moving parts? The project planning piece would be most important.
And it does not have to be a CX Coach. They would look to, Does this Project Manager understand what questions need to be asked? How do we create this new team? What types of processes need to be transitioned? What types of processes need to be documented?
That would way heavier than the CX Coaching piece.
Person would be a strong participant in the creation of the team moving forward.
Interview Process:
1st rounds in this week – with the HM or one of her other leaderships in the PMO
