Job Summary (basic description)

The Human Resource Information System Specialist supports and maintains the firm’s HR-related technology and HRIS applications. This includes, but is not limited to, the management of workforce data, business processes and reporting. This position ensures data integrity, tests system changes, supports HRIS upgrades and analyzes data flows for process improvement opportunities.

Essential Functions

  • Supports optimal performance of firm’s HR system, including system configuration, integration, role security, testing, reporting and data analytics.
  • Provides technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance for HRIS users.
  • Collaborates with HR leadership, HR team and stakeholders across the firm to identify system improvements and process efficiencies.
  • Helps to translate business objectives and user needs into clear technical requirements.
  • Proactively mines system data, analyzes information and makes recommendations on process enhancements.
  • Manages permissions, security access, personalization, and similar system operations and settings for HRIS users.
  • Assists the various Business Services departments such as IT and Finance regarding HRIS data, reporting and integrations.
  • Ensures compliance with data security and privacy requirements.
  • Provides production support, including researching and resolving HR system problems, unexpected results or business process issues flaws; recommending solutions or alternate methods to meet requirements if necessary.
  • Generates reports, including writing, maintaining and supporting a variety of queries utilizing appropriate reporting tools and dashboards for key stakeholders in the firm. Develops automated and standardized reports to meet ongoing user needs.
  • Maintains data integrity in systems by running reports and analyzing data.
  • Performs system maintenance and audits, including assisting in the review, testing and implementation of HRIS system upgrades.
  • Conducts training for new system users.
  • Assists in the creation of training materials, and user guides that drive end-user adoption.
  • Maintains procedure documentation for system and change log.

Qualifications/SkillsRequired

  • Excellent technical skills and the ability to translate user requirements
  • Proficiency with MS Excel tools, such as pivot tables, VLOOKUP functions, etc.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently, and manage multiple projects, from start to finish, with shifting priority levels.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • 3 or more years of experience in Workday HRIS configuration, support, and maintenance or similar system role.
  • Workday implementation experience is a plus.
  • Law firm experience is preferred, but not required.

For Westchester County, the expected salary range for this position is between $92,500 - $135,000. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
