Controller

Reports to: CEO

Status: Regular, Full-Time, Exempt

Location: Remote

POSITION SUMMARY

The controller is responsible for the accounting operations and systems of the company. They understand complex accounting standards and are responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of financial reports delivered to the leadership team. The controller translates the financial statements into a story that allows business leaders to make sound decisions. PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

  • Oversee monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies, procedures and controls.
  • Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data. Deliver financials to the owner by the 15th of the month.
  • Present executive committee with monthly financial reports.
  • Manage AR and AP for timely client invoicing and vendor payments, and to ensure positive cashflow.

Transactional Management

  • Oversee electronic filing system for source documents.
  • Oversee and document fixed asset acquisitions and disposals.

Reporting

  • Manage cash flow forecasting.
  • Manage the month-end closing process and deadlines for staff members.
  • Ensure accuracy of all reconciliations and supporting schedules.
  • Produce and deliver monthly financials with commentary.
  • Develop and deliver custom management reports.
  • Develop and manage reports for tracking KPIs.

Tax

  • Liaison with CPA for tax planning and year end filing.


SECONDARY OBJECTIVES

  • Collaborate with outsourced team on budget process.
  • Collaborate with Leadership team to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation.
  • Assess, execute, and improve policies, procedures, controls, and methodologies.
  • Handle daily cash management.
  • Evaluate & maintain accounting systems: manage software and manual integrations.
  • Recruit and develop accounting department staff to manage more complex work.
  • 1:1 coaching of development of team
  • Daily 10X training is a requirement via Cardone University.
  • Controller will be held to strict KPI’s regarding report delivery and budget adherence.
  • Controller will work with outsourced team to perform regular audits of books.
  • Perform other duties as required.


COMPETENCIES

  • QuickBooks experience required. Online version preferred.
  • Experience with Office 365: Excel (Advanced), Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint
  • Aptitude to learn new technology. Does not currently need ConnectWise or BrightGauge experience but will be expected to learn it and become highly skilled in its use and technical aspects. This may require the Controller to learn in their own time.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 3 years working as a controller.
  • Advanced technology skills required.
  • Professional integrity and trust.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to foresee and manage financial risks in a fast growth environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Capability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at once.
  • Professional and effective communication skills.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team and independently.

  • Ability to spend prolonged periods of time standing, speaking, walking, driving, and/or sitting
  • Requires ability to occasionally lift up to 25lbs
  • Travel: Up to 25%
