Peace Corps

Environmental Education & Climate Change Adaption Specialist - Volunteer Position - Onsite in Philippines

Peace Corps United States
No longer accepting applications

Project Description

Various Local Government Units (LGUs) and other institutions in the Philippines have requested the support of Peace Corps Response Volunteers (PCRVs) to serve as Environmental Education & Climate Change Adaption Specialists. LGUs are frontline agencies in the formulation, planning and implementation of climate change action plans in their respective areas. While a Guidebook on the formulation of Local Climate Change Action Plans (LCCAP) provided by the Department of Interior and Local Government is available, the technical capacity of the LGUs in developing and carrying out their plans differs at every level and they acknowledge the need for more capacity development activities.

Each PCRV will closely work with the local DRRM Officers and/or other LGU designated staffs on policy development, planning, and implementation; staff training; and data management, documentation and monitoring. The overall goal of the assignment is to contribute to the LGUs' effectiveness and efficiency to implement climate change related activities and promote a collective and inclusive approach towards a comprehensive and integrated climate governance framework.

Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in the Philippines together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
