Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Director of Application Development to lead and oversee our web, mobile, and custom application development efforts, along with system integrations. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, proven leadership skills, and the ability to drive innovative solutions that align with our business objectives. This role will report to the VP of IT Applications and require interaction with senior leaders of all functions within the company. All team members will live the SPX FLOW values in all circumstances.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands, fingers, handle or feel, talk, see and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 25 pounds. Use of the appropriate PPE is required.

This job operates in a manufacturing professional office environment. The employee can be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration and loud noise level while on the production floor.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for web, mobile, and custom application development that aligns with the company’s goals. Bringing practical ideas and new innovative solutions to help advance SPX FLOW in this strategic area. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to drive continuous improvement and innovation in application development.
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of developers, and engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Manage performance of the team and drive a culture of accountability. Capacity and resource management with prioritization of the workload for your team.
- Project Oversight: Oversee the full lifecycle of application development projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Develop and manage the project estimates and budgets, optimizing resources to achieve the best outcomes.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, marketing, and IT operations, to understand requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs. Proactive communication with stakeholders on issues, trends and other relevant topics is critical.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external vendors and partners to ensure effective delivery of outsourced projects and services. Develop strategic partners to allow for efficient delivery of solutions and meet business needs.
- Compliance and Security: Ensure all applications comply with relevant regulations and security standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in application development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in managing the development of web, mobile, and custom applications.
- Strong knowledge of application integration, APIs, and middleware.
- Excellent understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, etc.).
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to think strategically and execute methodically.
- Action oriented and self-driven
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
- Using influencing skills to bring individuals and groups to consensus agreements.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
- Docker, java, .net experience.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices.
- Working in an Agile environment.
- Experience working in manufacturing industry
