Director, Digital Media, Direct Response

Description

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) seeks a Director, Digital Media, who will play an important role in the Direct Response Marketing team. This data-oriented, results-driven performance marketer is primarily responsible for casting and executing a vision for how technology and data can enhance both strategic and tactical individual fundraising through direct response, and proactively identify new opportunities to generate revenue through digital channels and enhance our engagement programs with our constituents.

This role is responsible for leading strategic acquisition and retention program campaign implementation for the ADA direct response efforts, encompassing digital paid media (SEM, Display, Paid Social, SMS), organic, email, social programs, and the enhancement of our digital journeys. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in driving program efficiency through media campaign and full-funnel conversion optimizations, gathering data and identifying actionable insights, as well as a passion for the ADA’s mission to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

Responsibilities

  • Paid Media management: Provide strategic partnership as a team leader with our media agency of record. Manage media strategy, audience targeting, and implementation needs with a keen understanding of campaign optimization tactics, budget management, creative execution, and digital conversion tracking and reporting.
  • Development of the Direct Response Journey: Enhance current communications programs by executing testing and new strategic plans for a multichannel journey aimed at nurturing support, organization involvement, and retention. Content stewardship through the organization’s engagement platforms will include Organic, Email, and SMS journey alignment. Work closely with the email production and engagement automation team to implement targeted plans seamlessly.
  • Campaign Management. Manage the creation, execution, and optimization of digital campaigns, ensuring they are compelling, effective, and on brand. Find scalable growth through testing of new opportunities, funnel optimizations, and creative/messaging improvements. Ensure timely and accurate delivery of all direct response initiatives, managing timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
  • Performance Reporting: Evaluate the performance of campaigns on a regular basis in a clear and concise format. Ability and curious nature to define and share campaign metrics, goals, and testing frameworks that drive growth through data insights. Collaborate with broader analytics partners to develop automations, dashboards, and regular data outputs.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressively increasing experience in digital direct response with the ability to prioritize operational needs to drive business results. Fundraising experience a plus. Health care experience a plus.
  • Agency media or account management experience preferred.
  • Hands on thinker and doer, ability to translate new ideas into action.
  • A leader and innovative thinker who can lead discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels.
  • Experienced knowledge of donor platforms, Google Analytics, campaign and project management tools, landing page optimization platforms, and general reporting tools.
  • Resourceful self-starter and a problem-solver.
  • Ability to manage relationships and collaborate across several media, technology, and industry partnerships.
  • Meet tight deadlines and handle multiple priorities with grace and quality to detail.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working in or with a regulated industry with a familiarity of how regulation can impact marketing campaigns.
  • Proven interest and/or prior experience in healthcare and/or science.

Education

An undergraduate degree is required; an advanced degree such as an MBA and/or evidence of continued focused on professional development is preferred.
