About us
Terra CO2, based in Golden, Colorado, has developed a scalable, low carbon alternative for cement replacement in concrete. Our engineered OPUS SCM and SCM+ are direct replacements for fly ash. For every ton of Portland cement displaced by a Terra product, a 70% reduction in CO2 emissions is achieved. Introducing: OPUS Made with abundant, inexpensive, climate-friendly feedstocks. Today, cement production accounts for 8% of all greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. We replace up to 40% of cement in concrete with climate-friendly, cost-competitive supplementary and alternative cementitious materials. With appropriate mix design the concrete mix can be made cost competitive and with no compromise in performance properties. Our Opus products use abundantly available silicate rocks that can be sourced from existing aggregate mines close to any major market. This creates a huge advantage because it works at scale, using existing infrastructure.

While some companies are pursuing heavily subsidized CC projects, others deem this technology ineffective and too costly at scale. At Terra CO2, our focus is AVOIDING most CO2 emissions at their source; by using feedstocks that do not have embodied carbon. Our Cement for Humanity™ is a true climate solution aimed at the heart of the problem. ● Cost Parity for New Technologies: Achieving cost parity was a key focus at the Breakthrough Energy Summit. At Terra, while developing our products, OPUS SCM™ and OPUS ZERO™, we were unwavering in prioritizing cost competitiveness from day one, establishing cost guardrails early in our R&D. Ensuring our solutions are economically viable without extensive further development is non-negotiable on the path to net zero.
