For my next shout-out, I want to send a huge thank you to our product and manufacturing team at Fortera. This team has been instrumental in bringing our ReAct product line and ReCarb plant to life. From scoping out new project sites and opportunities to building customer and market traction, this team ensures our plants produce products our customers want. One of our core values is "Think Customer" and that is what this team does every day. Whether it is working with customers to improve mix designs or ensuring our products meet regulations, this team is making Fortera product in the market a reality. Most importantly, they are also making sure we do it safely! Thank you to Florence Jones and Sustainable Views for exploring solutions to decarbonize cement, including Fortera! Florence spoke to CEO Ryan Gilliam about Fortera’s circular alternative to conventional cement, which uses industrial CO2 from limestone calcination at existing cement plants to create new ready-to-use cement with 70% lower emissions. Green cement is here!! I have had the great pleasure of working closely with Fortera over the past few years as a Board member. As you may know, the cement industry generates roughly 8% of global industrial CO2 emissions. The magic of Fortera is that their proprietary process takes CO2 directly from the cement kiln and ultimately turns it into a cement equivalent product with an overall 70% reduction per ton in CO2 emissions. Last week, I had the pleasure of visiting the just-opened small commercial plant in Redding, California with the CEO of Fortera Ryan Gilliam along with colleagues from Temasek . I witnessed first hand some of the first green cement coming out of the plant. This is a major milestone and I am proud to see Fortera contributing to address the difficult challenge of CO2 emissions from cement.
