Uniting changemakers in the fight for human rights and climate justice in the clothing industry. Take action ⬇️

About us

Today, our clothes are disposable and cheap, while the human and environmental costs required to make them are tremendous. For the millions of mostly 18 to 24-year-old women (who represent 80% of the fashion supply chain), these jobs can be the best first step out of poverty. Yet the industry is rife with low wages, inadequate worker protections, unsafe conditions, and unrest. The current system needs a remake, and we are here to do just that. Our mission is to build a conscious consumer movement. Remake tells stories that bring shoppers, brands, and makers into a movement to shape the fashion industry’s relationship with the millions of people in its supply chain. When we know their stories, we can use our collective voice and shopping dollars to improve and shape the lives of people who make our clothes.

‼️ Click to send our Amazon demands to execs: https://2ly.link/1yn6a Why? ⬇️ Amazon, one of the world’s largest and most influential companies, continues to face serious allegations regarding its treatment of employees. Workers from the US to India have voiced concerns about inadequate breaks, excessive working hours, unsafe working conditions with insufficient protective measures, and lack of proper medical care for injuries sustained on the job, all while toiling in extreme heat. These practices not only undermine the health and safety of Amazon workers but also raise ethical questions about the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility. As the climate crisis worsens, these existing labor and human rights issues are being exacerbated. Amazon and other apparel brands and retailers have a growing responsibility not only to provide baseline protections for their supply chain workers but also to think ahead about what worker safety means as extreme weather events and climate shocks become increasingly common. As a member of the Make Amazon Pay campaign which brings together over 80 organizations such as the Clean Clothes Campaign, Labor Behind the Label, and IndustriALL as well as tens of thousands of supporters worldwide, Remake aims to hold Amazon accountable for the welfare of its workers and supply chain communities in a warming world. #ethicalfashion #slowfashion #sustainablefashion #workerwellbeing #fashionandclimate

"Over two days, The Fuller Project asked a garment worker to measure temperatures using a digital thermometer in the sewing section of Jade Sun Garment, a factory producing for brands like Primark, Old Navy, and George, a British clothing line sold widely in Walmart. Recordings taken by a garment worker in February, one of the cooler months, hit 97.7 degrees F.  During the hottest months, from April to May, the country’s daytime outdoor temperatures can soar above 104 degrees F. Leakhena, a soft-spoken sewer who’s worked at Jade Sun for several years, often feels “nearly unconscious” during this period. “We need more oxygen,” she explained. “I cannot breathe properly.”" Garment workers, who are mostly women, are routinely enduring heatwaves in Pakistan while making clothes for America and Europe, some of these heatwaves have reached up to 125°F. These workers already survive gender-based violence and poverty pay. Now they are trying to survive the climate crisis. And for what? So big brands can make billions at a rate our planet and bodies can't sustain. ❤️🩹 Click to provide direct heat relief at https://lnkd.in/ghZaue23 🔎 Click to read full article: https://lnkd.in/gfPkGtXV #fashionandclimate #directrelief #sustainablefashion

Remake held educational briefings with Slow Fashion Caucus members, presenting the executive summary of Remake’s Fashion Accountability Report, which measures and informs the fashion industry's progress where it matters. Our report takes an intersectional approach to human rights, environmental, economic, and political issues embedded in fashion supply chains. We encouraged policymakers to use this report as a roadmap as they develop their plan for building a more equitable and resilient fashion system. 🌟🔎 Click to grab a free copy of our 2024 Accountability Report: https://lnkd.in/g5Dzbbne https://lnkd.in/gF-2dQuC

Remake commends Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) for launching the first-ever Congressional Slow Fashion Caucus on June 27th. We joined elected officials, sustainable US fashion brands, worker partners at the Garment Worker Center, and student activists for the launch of this first-of-its-kind federal Caucus in Washington DC, where we met with lawmakers to educate them on fashion's key intersectional issues across human rights and climate justice. Remake’s VP of Advocacy Emily Weber Stochl also joined elected officials, sustainable brands, worker partners, and activists for the launch of this first-of-its-kind federal Caucus in Washington DC. Remake met with lawmakers to educate them on fashion's key intersectional issues across human rights and climate justice and armed them with our Fashion Accountability Report. We must create a “race to the top” on responsible business, and level the playing field for ethical and domestic manufacturers in the fashion industry. There is an estimated $5 billion global market for responsibly-produced apparel developing, and – with proper investment in good jobs with dignity – an opportunity to create technology-oriented, high-value domestic jobs. The ability to access these economic returns will require policy that creates an environment where responsible business can compete and thrive, and labor rights provisions that reflect the U.S. government’s core values and labor standards are upheld. We look forward to supporting the Slow Fashion Causcus' goals. 🔎Click to read our 2024 Fashion Accountability Report: https://lnkd.in/eWP4Ru6j 💻 Read more + find more info on Congresswoman Pingree's website: https://lnkd.in/g3UhAytY #sustainablefashion #sustainablefashionmovement #fashionlegislation #fashionadvocacy

So you're looking into investing in some quality pieces for your summer wardrobe, but want to ensure you're getting what you're paying for - Durability is essential in our fight for a fashion industry that can be better for people and the planet, as longevity means consumers purchase fewer replacement garments, keep garments in their wardrobes for longer instead of going to landfill, and gives the opportunity for garments to get a second life. It’s prime time to learn how to spot a durable garment when trawling through the online and offline secondhand marketplaces, seeing as price and longevity don’t always add up. 🔎🌟 Click to read how you can find and identify durable clothing via our Remake Times Story: https://lnkd.in/gzdNrJXR

As a remake.world ambassador, I have LOVED taking part in their #nonewclothes challenge, where I won't be purchasing any new clothing for three months this summer. Because of this, I have gotten to experience the coolest thrift and vintage stores around the world during my summer travels, as I elected to purchase secondhand. I was so inspired by the diverse merchandising in secondhand stores around the world (in Seville, Toulouse, Naples, Athens, Istanbul, Hamburg) that were all founded with the same principles in mind: to bring confidence to shoppers and save the world at the same time! #sustainablefashion

The purpose of our #NoNewClothes challenge is to stop and reflect on the values we want to wear, and the role we can play in changing the fashion industry going forward. By taking on the challenge to buy no new clothes — whether that’s buying nothing at all or only secondhand — for 90 days, you will reduce your carbon footprint, limit the waste you send to landfill, and keep your hard-earned money out of the pockets of companies that hurt people and the planet. ♻️ Reset your relationship with fashion by taking 3 months of #NoNewClothes: https://lnkd.in/gRpuSuiH

"For the past five years, Remake has invited their followers to take a pledge not to buy new clothes for 90 days. So far, the challenge has been completed 3,900 times. “We picked 90 days strategically because that is how long it takes to develop a new habit,” says Katrina Caspelich, Remake’s CMO. 'By completing the challenge, you’re reorienting your relationship to the fashion industry.' People who have taken the pledge to stop buying new clothes often find that they feel liberated from this capitalist system that spurs us to shop all the time. And they believe that their choices have a powerful ripple effect beyond themselves." ♻️ Reset your relationship with fashion and start your 3 months of #NoNewClothes: https://lnkd.in/gRpuSuiH 🔎 Click to read the full article via Fast Company: https://lnkd.in/d8G2qV9y
