On Tuesday, July 9, the National Hockey League (NHL) held the sixth-annual Stanley Awards, which recognized great achievements, innovation, creativity for fan engagement, and results across all NHL clubs during the 2023-24 season. From the 134 entries submitted across the 32 NHL clubs, eight winners were selected by an external panel of leaders in the sports and entertainment industry.   The Philadelphia Flyers took home the award for Social Media Club of the Year, an award that recognizes overall excellence by a club’s social media team. It was the club’s third Stanley Award win. Congratulations to all who played a part in achieving this huge, league-wide honor!

Philadelphia Business Journal profiled Flyers forward Scott Laughton as part of their 2024 Business of Pride series. In the feature, Laughton shares how he prioritizes using his voice as a professional athlete, specifically as an ally to the LGBTQ+ community, and details his goals to increase inclusivity and visible allyship in hockey and beyond. The Philadelphia Flyers internal content and production team has won three gold awards in the 45th Annual Telly Awards. The Telly Awards honor excellence in video and television across all screens. The Flyers were nominated for three awards, taking home the top honors in all three categories. The winning submissions encompassed the impact and influence of the Flyers’ season-long marketing campaign, “New Era of Orange.”   Click below to learn more and watch the winning submissions.

This season, the Philadelphia Flyers and Penn Medicine, University of Pennsylvania Health System teamed to donate over 11,000 pounds of food through the Penn Medicine Assist program benefitting Philabundance. For every Flyers assist this season, Penn Medicine and the Flyers donated 30 pounds of food to local communities in need. With a total of 369 assists, the team donated a grand total of 11,070 pounds of food to Philabundance over the course of the 2023-2024 season. Earlier this month, members of the Flyers front office, Gritty and Penn Medicine employees volunteered at Philadabundance by packaging food to be distributed throughout the Philadelphia community. 

On Saturday, March 30, as part of both the National Hockey League (NHL) and Philadelphia Flyers’ efforts to continue to grow the game of hockey to new and diverse audiences, the Flyers announced they will formally partner with University of Delaware to support the development of the University’s first-ever NCAA Division I Women’s Ice Hockey team. The Flyers will support the program’s development through three key pillars of growing the game of hockey, community engagement and developing a world-class women’s ice hockey program through networking and learning opportunities. To celebrate the partnership, newly-announced Delaware Women’s Ice Hockey Head Coach Allison Coomey dropped the ceremonial puck before the Flyers faced off against the Chicago Blackhawks.   Read more from the NHL.

Today, the Philadelphia Flyers announced the return of "Next Shift: Mentoring the Next Generation of Female Leaders" now presented by Holman, a global automotive services leader and certified women-owned business. After a successful debut in March 2023, the Flyers are excited to bring back the mentoring program as part of the organization's celebration of Women's History Month and year-round efforts to promote and foster female talent in the front office. Selected participants will receive four tickets to the game, receive an official working credential and attend a welcome reception where they will meet with other members of the program and the full group of Flyers female leaders. Applications will close on Wednesday, February 28 at 12 p.m. ET. Those selected for the program will be notified the week of March 4th.
