By supporting NESsT, we aim to equip Indigenous Peoples and local communities-led enterprises in the Amazon with the financial and business resources they need to grow their business and impact. Our collective goal is to strengthen local economies while protecting the region’s vibrant biodiversity and empowering its guardians. - Moore Foundation Program Officer: Maria DiGiano
We are delighted to share that NESsT is extending its support for Indigenous-led enterprises in the Amazon. 🌳 🌿 🤝 With support from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, NESsT will provide additional business and financial assistance to a group of IPLC-led enterprises that contribute to the #bioeconomy and conserve the environment. Our continued efforts in the region remain focused on amplifying the role of Indigenous Peoples and local communities (IPLCs) in preserving biodiversity and fostering sustainable economic development through entrepreneurship. The initiative – also backed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) – will build upon NESsT’s work in the region to engage with key Indigenous organizations that have a deep understanding of the needs of local communities and are crucial to the growth of local businesses. ➡️ Find out more in our latest blog 🗞 : https://lnkd.in/gRB4tB4x ➡️ Read more about the NESsT Amazonia Initiative here: nesst.org/nesst-amazonia #Amazon #bioeconomy #climatechange #localcommunities #indigenouscommunities Mauricio Verkooijen Ricardo Díaz Hart Juan Pablo Manrique Margarita Briceño Malaga Andrea Molestina M. Our foundation president, Dr. Harvey V. Fineberg chaired the NASEM committee responsible for this pivotal report that aims to bring clarity and consistency to the diagnosis and treatment of the long-term effects of COVID-19, a condition that continues to impact lives globally. "Despite the fact that there have been many efforts to characterize this condition and many different definitions put forward, there has not yet been a common definition that has been widely agreed upon," said Committee Chair Harvey Fineberg, M.D., Ph.D., president of the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. "The lack of a considered uniform definition that's widely accepted hampers individual patients' ability to get the care they need." "It hampers research, surveillance, and the availability of support for our patients who have this condition.” The report underscores the necessity for a concerted effort for medical professionals, policymakers, and philanthropists for improving patient care, research, and public health strategies. Dive in to explore comprehensive insights and recommendations that can transform the response to long COVID.
