  • Today kicks off Construction Safety Week across our industry. At MEC, nothing is more important than the safety of our team and surrounding communities. On project sites, crews often face situations where it’s important to speak up and use their voices. Our Conversation Card helps make these real-world conversations happen by providing guidance on how to speak up when it’s necessary. Listening to each other can encourage open communication within the crew, increase productivity, connect project leadership and improve the overall project culture. Most importantly, when we value everyone’s voice, we create a safer work environment. #ConstructionSafetyWeek

  • Why do you enjoy working in construction? MEC Field Engineer Erika Steinhauer shares what she enjoys most about her career as we celebrate Women in Construction Week. "As an engineer, I really enjoy being able to see projects through from start to finish. Being an active participant in moving an idea from paper to real life is incredibly rewarding and deeply satisfying. No two days are the same, and the dynamic nature of the field always keeps me excited for what's next.” #WICWeek2024 #WomenInConstruction

  • Shaina Pietrillo is an environmental specialist working on projects for MEC along the East Coast. What does she enjoy most about working for MEC? "The communication and support from my supervisors are major factors for me. I have access to so many environmental resources in each department, from training to compliance teams and vendor support. I enjoy being a part of a project and seeing myself improve in all aspects from a safety, quality and environmental perspective. The more I improve, the better resource I am to others in the industry." Her advice for those new to the construction industry? "Be open to new experiences as they are offered. Experience is where you gain knowledge and meet new people within the company. Take the chance to learn something you're not familiar with. With the support system we have, there will always be help to find the solution to a problem. Be proactive, ask questions, build your network, and most importantly, be confident in yourself and your abilities. " Thanks for all you do, Shaina! #WomenInConstruction #WICWeek2024
