The secret world beneath our feet is mind-blowing – and the key to our planet’s future! "Beneath our feet is an ecosystem so astonishing that it tests the limits of our imagination. It’s as diverse as a rainforest or a coral reef. We depend on it for 99% of our food, yet we scarcely know it. Soil." Biostimulants an Ally for Better Water Utilization in Plants 🌱 “Biostimulants can stimulate beneficial microbes in the soil, and what these beneficial microbes, bacteria and fungi, are able to do is promote a plant’s ability to manage drought stress through effective regulation of their stomata to maximize water use efficiency when they are dealing with low moisture conditions,” says Gus Plamann Senior Agronomist from Biome Makers. ➡️ Read More about the importance of biostimulants in sustainable agriculture, particularly in optimizing water use efficiency and supporting plant growth: https://hubs.la/Q02G1Ff50 Growing Produce #biostimulants #sustainableagriculture #plantgrowth

What are the three dimensions of soil health? 🌱 Soil health is often divided into three major components: physical, chemical, and biological. Historically, the physical and chemical components have been the main focus of agronomic tools, as biological factors were difficult and costly to assess. However, It’s important to note that the three components of soil health are deeply involved in a wide array of interconnected processes. 🤝 🦠 For example, soil biology, including bacteria, fungi, protozoa, and nematodes, influence the physical traits of soil, such as its texture and porosity. They do this through bioturbation, the process by which microorganisms physically move soil and create small channels. The physical traits of soil, like water-holding capacity, in turn, influence microbes and potentially select species that can or can’t do well in certain moisture conditions. These are just two examples of the vast range of physical, biological, and/or chemical processes that pertain to soil health and support the life cycles of plants, microorganisms, and animals, including us. 👉 Discover More by reading our Complete Guide to Soil Health: https://hubs.la/Q02FRJK00 #soilhealth #soilbiology

The hidden wonders of soil 🌱 "A teaspoon of soil holds billions of organisms, things like bacteria, fungi, protists and archaea. These microbes are the movers and shakers of nature's carbon cycle. They drive really important processes in soil, they take organic matter and convert it into complex carbon molecules. And having more carbon in soil is transformative. As carbon accumulates, agricultural fields can hold on to more water and more nutrients, building resilience that helps them deal with the ups and downs of a changing climate. That resilience means plants can grow more consistently, even when the weather is fickle." 👉 Watch the complete Ted Talk: https://hubs.la/Q02Fym6r0 #soilmicrobiome #soilhealth #microbemonday #microbiologymonday

Why 'funga' is just as important as flora and fauna "It’s been at least 400 million years since mycorrhizal fungi helped plants colonize the Earth’s land, thanks to a pretty basic trade-off: Fungi tend to form a symbiotic relationship with different plants and animals, and they move by eating and expanding outward. For most plants today, that means fungi live within their root systems, metabolizing sugar from photosynthesis while helping them access water and critical nutrients." 👉Read more by National Geographic here: https://hubs.la/Q02Fq8GY0 #fungifriday #funga #fungi
