The EV SUMMIT 2024 wrapped up with some closing remarks from Ade Thomas, “The sense of collaboration has been palpable amongst you all in the room here, in the networking areas, people very positively, very creatively sharing ideas on how we might work together, how solutions might come together, who to work with, just a beautiful sense of a collaborative platform that is the EV SUMMIT.“ We then had our final networking drinks reception (thank you to AFRY and Bain & Company for sponsoring these sessions across the two days) in the pavilion where learnings of the day were discussed and connections were made. We also announced the winners for our two prizes up for grabs this year: A VIP experience at this year's Formula E London E-Prix thanks to Mahindra Racing and an electric Brompton thanks to Brompton Bicycle! “We’ve purchased our first manufacturing facility in Europe in Barcelona, and we should be starting production later this year. We’re looking for other plants in Europe and the UK, providing local jobs. “We’re seeing more and more companies pull back from the wet fuel companies, who are not providing EV services in the way that they should be, under the expectation that their customership will just go from pumping wet fuel into a vehicle to a dry fuel solution moving to emobility. They also spoke of the positives EVs offer, such as bi-directional charging, battery storage and the simple message: EVs are fun! “We have to embrace the Chinese [EV manufacturers]. We have to embrace EVs coming from afar. The way we do it though is through collaboration, and not tariffs or forcing them and putting barriers up… 77% of all batteries are produced in China, so that gives them economy of scale.” Our lunchtime keynote Andrew Pilkington, MBA, Deputy CEO from VINFAST UK, spoke about the EV disruptors in our industry, particularly from the Chinese market, and how they could be the key to make EVs more accessible to more people with their lower price positioning. #EVSUMMIT2024 | #ElectricVehicles | #SustainableMobility | #EV

“Top Women in EV, from this year, is becoming a year long programme of its own. We’ve always had a week-long campaign as part of International Women’s Day, where we’ve celebrated 70 women across seven days, so far we’ve lifted up 350 women. But, we need more than a moment in time.
