We’re proud to publish our first-ever socioeconomic pay gap report. In 2023, we published research in partnership with the charity Making The Leap – to better understand social mobility, inclusion and belonging for colleagues. At Co-op we already report on our gender and ethnicity pay gaps, but we recognise that socioeconomic background can also be a critical factor in an individual’s earning potential. This new report marks a key milestone in our campaign, driven by our member-owners, to promote social mobility. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/e3K-f_Vy

Thank you to everyone who attended Making The Leap’s networking event last night on the eve of Social Mobility Day! It was great to have so many people in the room involved in driving and advancing social mobility in their organisations. Lovely to hear from Craig Emden, Managing Partner at our valued partner, Howard Kennedy LLP and Making The Leap’s Founder and CEO Tunde Banjoko, for an insightful fireside chat sharing their personal career journeys and why social mobility matters. Thank you Craig for joining us and sharing your social mobility moments with us. We were delighted to also hear from some of our Fellows within our alumni community who shared their inspiring stories. Thank you Nkem Ene, Sarah Biria and Wumi Eyiangho for being such brilliant ambassadors for MTL. We were so pleased to have been able to #ShareMoments with our guests ahead of Social Mobility Day!

In honour of Social Mobility day, we're proud to share that we are extending our charity partnership with Making The Leap for another two years. Since partnering in May 2022, we have worked closely with Making The Leap to support young people from less-advantaged backgrounds and our fundraising efforts have raised over £25,000 in FY2023-24. Our volunteers organise events like quiz nights, Tough Mudder challenges, and we directly support participants in Making The Leap’s Aspirations, Character and Employability (ACE) program, offering career insight days at our offices and hosting a week's paid work experience in July 2023. In addition to our fundraising and volunteering activities, we have supported Making The Leap in raising awareness of their vital work to tackle social mobility in the UK. This partnership is a key pillar of our responsible business commitment and continued support of social mobility. We're delighted to be extending our support!
