🌐 What role does AI have in rail? 🌐 Hitachi Rail, London North Eastern Railway, Network Rail and CrossTech have been busy collaborating to ensure real-time automated detection of potential hazards on track, through trialling an artificial intelligence (AI) powered computer vision tool on the East Coast Main Line. The technology, detects potential hazards such as: ⚠️ Overhanging trees ⚠️ Leaves on the track ⚠️ Embankment subsidence Watch the video below to find out how much faster this technology can be in comparison to manual processes ⬇️ #railwayinnovation #AI #safetyfirst

🚦 New digital interlocking for vital line in Germany 🔒 Our DSTW technology has been used to replace the existing signalling system on the corridor between Meitingen and Mertingen in Germany, which is an important connection between Finland, Sweden and Malta. Meeting NeuPro requirements, this digital solution will help trains run at 200km/h with improved safety, reliability and comfort for passengers. Encrypted data connections which link to sensors and switches will ensure that trains only enter sections of the track which are empty, to guarantee safety on the high-speed route. Easier to maintain and operable from further distances than the existing system, DSTW interlocking will also help to alleviate network operations. With this technology, the digital future is at the touch of a button. Read the press release to find out more: https://bit.ly/4bIOYXD

Today, we joined London Transport Museum, Gowling WLG and Mott MacDonald to launch a thought-provoking report on the future of transport in the UK. At the heart of this report is a call for long-term planning and a clear focus on the passenger experience in the form of affordable, reliable, convenient, safe and accessible transport systems. The panel, including Mark Evers, Chief Customer Officer, Transport for London; Tricia Hayes CB, Chair, London Travelwatch, Board Member, Transport Focus; Glenn Lyons, Professor of Future Mobility, Mott MacDonald and Claire Taylor, Chief Operating Officer, Sheffield City Council, chaired by Paul Tuohy, CEO, Campaign for Better Transport, offered incredible insights. Key takeaways: 🚅 Leadership: Strong leadership and government commitment to enhancing passenger experience is critical 🚆 Technology: Embracing technological advancements will be key to driving innovation and efficiency in the transport system 🤝 Collaboration: Government, regulatory agencies, businesses, and communities need to unite and take proactive steps to prioritise passenger needs and travel experience 🍃 Social impact: Social outcomes should help shape transport planning and implementation, such as impact on communities, employment, and public health Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/dMNCYhEn Giles Clifford - Richard Catterson #TransportFitForTheFuture

Have you heard about the Mobility Transition? It’s a movement that is needed to reduce carbon emissions produced by the transport industry. Rail is the green travel alternative to cars and planes. According to an EEA study, air travel is reported to be 20 times worse for emissions than rail. By offering more high-speed rail services, we give people more options for #sustainable travel. Our #digital technology connects urban centres and cities, which enables people to avoid using their cars. By alleviating congestion and enhancing connectivity, we’re helping to build cleaner, safer, and greener societies around the world.
