🚗 Autonomous Cars: Public Skepticism Persists 🚗 Fleet News recently published an article on a Venson Automotive Solutions survey revealing that 48% of drivers do not support autonomous vehicles. With concerns over the leap from semi-autonomous to full autonomy, public acceptance remains a major hurdle. Younger drivers, however, show more support. _____ 👉 Stay tuned!

Every day, we are getting more confirmation that advanced vision can be achieved with camera-only systems. GR-1, a humanoid robot produced by Fourier Rehab (aka Fourier Intelligence), a company from Singapore, is adopting a vision system based exclusively on cameras. No more RADARs o LIBARs. _____ 👉 Stay tuned! Follow us: EYE2DRIVE #NavigationSystems #visionSystems #LIDAR #RADAR

Forbes wants to save autonomous vehicles by endangering cyclists. According to a recent Forbes article, a solution to slow and safe autonomous buses would be to reroute them on less popular bike paths. Safety should be achieved with better sensor technology and not by dumping the industry problems in a more vulnerable category. I'm sure the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition and the California Bicycle Coalition would agree. _____ 👉 Stay tuned! Follow us: EYE2DRIVE #AutonomousVehicles #NavigationSystems #RoadSafety

In May 2024, the kick-off meeting of the two winning projects of the technological challenge "Bio-inspired sensor technology" took place at our Campi Bisenzio site (Florence). This is one of the five challenges hosted within #SolversWanted, #Leonardo's technological scouting platform that identifies and promotes innovative solutions, in collaboration with universities, research centres, companies and start-ups on a global scale. 💡 The Bio-inspired sensor technology challenge, launched in October 2023, was aimed at finding solutions in the field of neuromorphic sensors to be used in Detection & Tracking applications. The winners of the challenge were awarded a 12-month contract for direct collaboration with Leonardo: 🏆 The EYE-TECH start up from Carrara with the EYE2DRIVE - Building the digital EYE project, aims to provide a prototype system to be used for image acquisition tests in critical situations and highly variable and non-optimal lighting conditions. 🏆 The Department of Computer Science, Bioengineering, Robotics and Systems Engineering of the University of Genoa (Università degli Studi di Genova) with the SENSE-NN - symbolic end-to-end neuromorphic sensing project, with the objective of developing a robust hybrid framework that will employ neuromorphic sensors within a Large Language Model (LLM) capable of making rapid decisions, because it will use the data coming from the sensors, avoiding canonical algorithmics. https://lnkd.in/dsk4WWNF #Leonardo4Innovation

AI-based sensors are no longer limited to Autonomous Vehicles and are starting to pop up in several vertical applications. A Spanish startup working in Ireland developed a new AI-based sensor to identify microplastics in the ocean. In our opinion, this is just the first application in a long series of future applications for AIU-based vision sensors. EYE2DRIVE is at the forefront of this technological wave. ___ 👉 Stay tuned! Eye2Drive Debunks A Skeptical Opinion On The Impact Of AI On The Future of Autonomous Vehicles Despite all the incredible progress made by Autonomous Vehicles, many experts remain skeptical about the future of driverless cars. In this article, they are questioning the impact of AI on the safety and reliability of autonomous vehicles. At EYE2DRIVE, we believe in the power of technology like Artificial Intelligence, but we also believe in the creativity of humans and their ability to solve even very complex problems. AVs are already a reality riding on the streets of a few cities like San Francisco and will gradually become more pervasive. Thanks to new technologies like the vision sensors developed by EYE2DRIVE, we are confident that Autonomous Vehicles will continue to evolve to become more reliable, safer, and less expensive to build and run. ___ 👉 Stay tuned!
