  • As #AI rapidly changes industries, it's crucial to ensure it operates fairly and transparently. To delve deeper, db.io/speak - our speaker series that brings thought-leaders into the bank to share new perspectives and debate industry trends – was delighted to welcome Roberto Bentivoglio and Michele Ridi from RadicalBit. Together, they emphasized that keeping a close eye on AI systems—known as observability—is key to making AI both powerful and ethical. Observability allows us to understand how AI makes decisions, promoting transparency and mitigating biases. It also enhances AI reliability by promptly identifying and addressing issues, essential for its effectiveness across various fields. Renato Menna, Distinguished Engineer and #DeutscheBank Host for this insightful speaker session, highlighted that gaining user trust is paramount for AI's success. Observability bridges the gap between AI capabilities and user expectations, ensuring that AI development aligns with ethical standards and societal values. Moreover, observability fosters innovation by empowering our developers to confidently enhance AI models through continuous improvement. By embracing observability, we pave the way for AI that benefits everyone, ensuring a future where AI is both powerful and principled. #EngineerTheFuture #MoreThanBanking

  • In an inspiring display of innovation and teamwork, the Bucharest Technology Center recently partnered with Junior Achievement Romania for the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project “Skills for the Future – Agile Mindset”. The initiative, which drew to a grand finale, saw 180 students from six top Bucharest high schools guided by over 20 Agile experts. The project’s grand finale featured a competition for the Agile IRL Trophy, where the students presented their projects. The energy was high as a team of expert judges evaluated their work. The highlight? The victory of “Mihai Viteazul” High School, one of Romania’s oldest and most prestigious schools, tracing its origins to 1865. Their winning entry was an AI chatbot, designed to answer questions about their school and its extracurricular activities. Congratulations to the talented team from “Mihai Viteazul” High School for their outstanding achievement! 🎉 This remarkable project would not have been possible without the dedication of our 26 volunteers from the Bucharest Technology Center and the invaluable support from Junior Achievement Romania. A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved for their commitment and hard work. 👏 #EngineerTheFuture #MoreThanBanking #DeutscheBank

  • Our juniors of TDI Germany recently organised a hackathon themed "Sustainability through Digitalization”. The focus was on developing ideas that improve either customer experience, offer new features for existing products, or make the day-to-day lives of our employees more sustainable and convenient. What made this Hackathon special? Not only it was entirely organized by our junior colleagues, but it also connected juniors from various programs within the bank whose paths would normally not have crossed. This included apprentices, dual students and trainees with varying experience in the bank – some aspiring future juniors participated as well. The event started with a brief introduction to TDI before moving on with workshops on design thinking and storytelling. The next step was to work on the collected ideas in small teams, develop an initial prototype and to win over the jury with a convincing pitch. One of the most convincing ideas is the possibility for customers to offset their carbon footprint when trading securities. Many thanks to all participants, jury members and coaches. We all had a great time and are looking forward to seeing some teams turn their idea into reality. #DeutscheBank #EngineerTheFuture #Innovation

The history of banking has, in the past, been shaped by credit cards, phone banking and online transaction. In recent years, the rise of open banking has opened a new ecosystem where fintech providers can collaborate with banks for new innovations and disruptions using technology. Banking of the future will be defined by the rise of #artificialintelligence and Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC), said Puneet Narang, our India Head of Corporate Bank Technology and CIO Contextual Banking and Banking as a Service at the Express Computer BFSI Technology Conclave, Narang said that technologies such as artificial intelligence will immensely contribute to document synthesis, hyper-personalisation and market research. Digital currencies issued by central bank - CBDCs - provide a risk-free environment and could help financially excluded populations enter the formal financial system. In collaboration with our colleagues from #DeutscheBank New York, we recently welcomed a group students from Villanova University at our #QuartierZukunft in Berlin. The students are currently in Germany, visiting a range of different organisations. Through a number of presentations we had the great pleasure of showcasing the important role of technology for banking. It was a terrific experience to connect with international visitors with such a great interest in our work. Prof. Sue Metzger who organised the event together with us, said: “Deutsche Bank went above and beyond to support us – we appreciated the event and the networking opportunities. Some students are now looking into opportunities to work abroad.” The day was a wonderful experience for all involved. Wishing the students a great time in Germany and a safe journey back home. #EngineeringTheFuture #MoreThanBanking #DeutscheBank
