About us
IPIFF is an EU non-profit organisation which represents the interests of the insect production sector towards EU policymakers, European stakeholders and citizens. Composed of more than 80 members, IPIFF promotes the use of insects and insect-derived products as top tier source of nutrients for human consumption and animal feed. IPIFF's main mission is to promote the wider use of insects as a complementary or new source of protein for human consumption and animal feed through a continuous dialogue with the European institutions (i.e. the European Commission, the EU Member States authorities, the European Parliament and the European Food Safety Authority). Notably, IPIFF centres its activities around advocating for appropriate EU legislation applicable to insect production.

🤝 Yesterday's stakeholder event on “Incentivising climate action for a sustainable and competitive agri-food value chain” brought together high-level representatives along the entire value chain as part of a new exploratory study. Organised by DG CLIMA (European Commission), the event aimed to gather inputs on the best approaches towards polices that can unlock incentives for innovative climate solutions and create new business and income opportunities for EU Agriculture. It is no surprise that the accelerating climate change and biodiversity loss create a challenging landscape for all areas of the economy—but uniquely so for the farming sector and for the agri-food value chain. ✅ Widespread adoption of sustainable practices by farmers—supported by all actors in the agri-food chain—offers a chance to increase farm resilience, income stability and food security, while reducing GHG emissions and increasing carbon removals. This is where insect-farming is critical. ✅ Insect farming can support European farmers by supplying feed materials that are characterised by a lower environmental footprint and the provision of bio-based fertilising solutions, such as insect frass. The sector offers opportunities for European farmers to diversify their production activities towards low-GHG models that have a positive impact on their business. ✅ Represented by Christophe Derrien at the high-level stakeholder event, IPIFF (International Platform of Insects for Food and Feed) advocated for a mix of policies and funding mechanisms, such as the EU CAP, R&I, regional funds and instruments to incentivise investments towards sustainable solutions.
