Fendt Future Zone - Soil Cultivation

Fendt 828 Vario plowing

The basis for successful harvests and healthy soils lies in well thought-out soil cultivation! Techniques such as plowing, harrowing and direct sowing play a decisive role in this. When plowing, the soil is turned over to improve aeration and distribute organic matter evenly. Harrowing refines the soil structure for optimal seedbed preparation, while no-till minimizes soil disturbance, conserves moisture and prevents erosion. In addition to planting preparation, tillage helps control weeds and improves water infiltration. Our goal? Sustainable agriculture that maximizes yields and maintains soil fertility in the long term!

The history of tillage spans thousands of years, from ancient hand tools to the era of modern machinery. Early civilizations such as the Sumerians and Egyptians used simple tools, but the groundbreaking invention of the plough around 3000 BC made manual work more efficient. Over the centuries, different forms of plows developed, adapted to cultural needs. Many years passed between the heavy, animal-drawn plows and the introduction of steam-powered tractors. Today, precision agriculture uses cutting-edge technologies such as GPS and sensors to optimize yields and minimize environmental impact. This historical evolution underscores the deep connection between people and the land they farm.

Fendt 942 Vario at Agritechnica 2023 with Autonomy Kit and Strip Till System

During AGRITECHNICA 2023, Fendt presented innovative solutions for agriculture in the Fendt Future Zone. Among the products presented were the Fendt 942 Vario HVO tractor with Autonomy Kit and the Strip Till System. These technologies make it possible to work the soil in narrow strips, leaving the surrounding plant material largely intact. The result? Reduced water loss, prevented erosion and minimized draft and time. Given the current challenges in agriculture, such as extreme weather conditions and shorter harvest windows, the development of such innovations is crucial. Fendt recognizes this urgency and is actively committed to finding solutions that not only increase productivity, but also minimize environmental impact. 🌱💡
