HAVE YOU BEEN THINKING I COULD BE A FASHION MORE? Fashion modeling is the ability to make a designer creation come alive in the eyes of the onlooker. ( Impressing the viewer to the point of purchasing). On any given fashion show the sole aim of the designer is impress the audience with his or her creation. It is important for to know that conseption to bringing the product to show the designer would have spent hours sometimes sleepless nights for this to be so. A designer spends lots of money for this to happen. So they are depending on you to showcase their brilliance. Weather it be accessories, cosmetics, sports ware and cars, phones ect. Fashion modeling then can be classified as a form of advertisement. You are a sales person, you are used to enhance the look of the designers creation. What Does a Fashion Model Do? . A successful career in fashion modeling can be exciting and glamorous, but it is also rather very demanding. You have to work all the time at looking good every where all the time. You have to learn to smile even if it hurts. At all cost you must be a people person and get along with persons. You must keep a strict diet. Taking pictures may look easy but it is not models are required to pose and twist there bodies in difficult position. Some times in very cold weather or hot sun. Some fashion models might only model with certain parts of their bodies, like their hands or feet. These models are often referred to as parts models. When trying to market a fashion to a certain audience, fashion designers will often use fashion models that are built like or look like the intended audience. For instance, plus-sized models will usually model plus-sized clothing. African models might also be used in order to model certain fashions geared toward colored women. One question new comers always ask is how much can I earn. The answer to that is really depend on a lot of factors. If you have the look and work ethics the market demands and you have a good agency marketing you you should be able to earn a great salary that you could not have earned others wise.

Working in the fashion industry doesn't automatically mean you need to know how to make clothes. It's time to debunk this myth! As I mentioned in my last post, tailors are not fashion designers, but it's entirely possible for fashion designers to also be skilled tailors. Just because fashion designers receive sewing lessons doesn't mean they have to follow that path in the industry. The fashion world is incredibly diverse, offering various career opportunities for everyone. Many professionals contribute to the complete fashion look, and here are a few career options: 🌟Fashion Designer: These individuals create original designs, patterns, and clothing, translating their artistic vision into wearable art. 🌟Seamstress: Often called "tailors," they make, alter, or mend clothes for people, using patterns made by designers. 🌟Fashion Illustrator: Skilled artists who bring a designer's creative ideas to life through intricate sketches and illustrations. 🌟Fashion Merchandiser: They decorate shop floors and showcases to maximize clothing sales by dressing up mannequins and arranging clothes by style or outfits. 🌟Fashion Stylist: Provide fashion advice for individuals or fashion houses, including selecting and coordinating outfits for models in photo shoots or actors in TV and film, as well as choosing props and accessories. 🌟Fashion PR and Advertising Manager: These professionals build brand image and awareness, collaborating with marketing, merchandising, and retail departments to meet business goals. The list of fashion career options is extensive, and anyone can enter the industry with little or no prior experience. Passion and a willingness to learn at every opportunity are key. I have projects not just in tailoring but in image consultation as well. It's like a holistic approach where I can coach my clients on dressing & custom tailor the clothes out for them. *️⃣ Case Study: Real Estate Agent Marketing Private Condos & Landed Properties Marketing Plan: Property Videos Consultant Role: Tailor/Image Consultant 1️⃣ Initial Consultation: Discussion with my client, to identify the targeted audience and types of properties marketed. This will be useful in deciding how many outfits/ styling direction & dress code. Not forgetting the client's vision in personal branding as well. I would request to take a look at the specific areas where filming will take place. ⚠ Things to take note of: Will the filming be in or outdoors or both? Lighting plays a part in how colors appear in your eyes. Always go for colors, eyes are attracted to colors. 2️⃣The general color of the property. You would avoid wearing a white shirt when the walls of the property are white too. One would just blend in and when you walk and do the intro. It may look like the person's head is floating around. Usually, I won't suggest wearing a black jacket as the contrast between the wearer and the wall color might be too harsh. But by having a little color that stands out a little bit from the back ground of the property, the focus is slightly more on to you than just the property itself. You are not just marking the unit but you are marketing your services as well. 3️⃣ Wardrobe/Dressing Assessment & Fabric selection: Most outfits would be tailored, there will be cases where his existing outfits can be used to mix & match for different properties. This is where my expertise will come in handy. For a formal look, it's pure wool which is light & airy to wear during daytime. The last thing you would want is heat to be trapped inside your outfit. For a more casual look, cotton suits would be ideal giving a more stylish look and playing with a dash of colors in the overall outfit. 4️⃣Final Delivery: Collection of clothes with a guide on which outfits are used for which property. Details down to the color of the pocket square, shoe & socks color as well as glasses. 🏁 Conclusion-Benefits to the Client: Well-tailored clothes will help project a polished and professional image, which is crucial when marketing luxury properties. If you don't stand out from the rest, how would people remember you? A professional appearance can help make a strong first impression on potential buyers and clients. The client can elevate their brand and stand out in the competitive Singapore property market.

The Charm Of A Summer Collar. (Part 1) … In the summertime, you have to do more with less. Without the ability to layer, an outfit becomes all about the details: the cut, silhouette, color combination, and accents. But if your wardrobe leans classic, there’s only so much you can do. Slightly cropped, carrot cut trousers can be great this time of year, but only if you have the eye necessary to pull things together. An easy way to upgrade an outfit is to play around with its collar style. Like reading formality in suits and sport coats, shirt design has its own language. A regular placket is more casual than a French placket. A single chest pocket is more informal than a plainer design, and a shirt with two chest pockets is more casual still. Much like shoes, shirts look more casual when they’re visually busy. The most expressive part of a shirt, however, is its collar. In the summertime, there are a couple of styles that go particularly well with warm-weather outfits. A camp collar can be a great way to push a plainer ensemble away from business casual, while a one-piece collar can look fantastic when layered underneath a sport coat. Here are four summer styles to consider: One-Piece Collar Most shirt collars are made from four pieces of material. There’s the shirt’s body (the first piece), the collar band (the second piece), and the collar leaf, which is sometimes made with an interlining (the third and fourth pieces). As its name suggests, a one-piece collar means that the shirt is made with just one piece of material, so the body of the shirt flows straight into the collar. On a patterned shirt, this can be especially nice since the pattern won’t be interrupted. Like many of the styles here, the one-piece collar recalls the grand old traditions of vacation life, when jetsetters used to spend their summers in the French Riveria. When worn under a jacket, a one-piece collar will have the soft, angelic roll of a button-down, but look even more fluid. If the collar points aren’t anchored down with buttons, however, they’ll splay out when they’re not worn underneath a jacket (the effect looks like an aggressive cutaway collar). I tend to like these better when they’re layered underneath something, so the collar stands upright. Finding one, however, can be a real challenge. - Derek Guy, Putthison

The ever-brilliant Cathy Horyn more eloquently and contextually shares what I've been observing in the fashion industry since I started my career in 2010. Prices are going up; innovation and quality are going down; shareholder stakes are pushing the marketing; and the term "fashion" is synonymous with luxury & logos—not necessarily unique "style." We keep seeing the same takes on old things going down the runway and repackaged as "new" trends like "quiet luxury" or "[enter noun] + core" . . . or whatever the latest influencer or TikToker deems of the moment—only to cycle out in mere weeks. Horn says: "Several forces are behind the slowdown, but the biggest is that European brands — even houses with a long history of producing high fashion — started to conceptualize fashion as luxury. Luxury means status and money — that $5,000 handbag with a telling logo . . . This turn toward luxury will make it harder for young designers with traditional training to further their careers as creative directors of European houses. In the past, brands depended on young talent for a creative recharge. . . . But brands don’t necessarily want what talented young designers have. Today, those companies are machines with layers and layers of people working on knitwear or tailoring or fabric research, and there are also the marketing and merchandising teams, which have their own ideas about designs. So the job of a creative director is less about actual garment designing." This is another case study on why developing your OWN sense of style is more important than ever. So when you see the "latest trend"—remember it's probably fleeting. YOU dictate your own personal style and how you want to show up in the world—not the shareholders, not TikTokers, not your peers. Today, my image of Tanya and a quick 🔊 announcement 📢 that later this week, I will reveal the most stunning location ☀🏝 of my next fashion editorial for a clothing brand that will take place at the end of May. I will be extending my stay there, so if you are a clothing brand owner / creative director who would like your clothes to be showcased on a beautiful female model in a stunning location, in a captivating fashion editorial that will elevate your brand, get in touch! When we sell clothes and jewellery, we need to remember that our buyers often want to buy dreams and transformation. We also need to be acutely aware of the fact that in order to attract our ideal clients, we need to project similar vibes consistently and that is not limited just to clothing or jewellery. Abundance attracts abundance while scarcity is a magnet for... of course.... scarcity. If my client owns a luxurious clothing brand and wishes to showcase a few items (on her or on an on-set extra) in our brand photoshoot, I will not present their clothes in front of a graffitied wall even if I need a splash of colour in the background. Running a 'budget location' brand photoshoot for such a client would only confuse their customers and confused customers do not buy. The choice of location could potentially harm my client's market positioning (their customers' perception of their brand). Therefore, we always need to choose our brand photoshoot locations wisely. My client's customers will need to be strongly convinced that the clothes shown in my branded images are tailored to their needs (more on that in the next paragraph); that way it feels more targeted and exclusive. Our job (mine and my client's) is to craft unique proposition based on THE RESULTS THEIR CUSTOMERS WANT TO ACHIEVE. My clients and I must consider exactly what their ideal customers' needs and motivation for their purchase / service are. The likelihood is that a woman buying a £1,200 dress is buying something substantially different than another woman purchasing a £75 dress. Therefore, it is crucial to determine what these women really want to get out of their transactions. Could it be status, luxury and exclusivity in addition to wanting to look good? We need to know the answers to these and many other questions before I press the shutter-release button.
