The collective imagery often associates Gypsy communities with distinct, diverse, and culturally rich traits. This has been both a blessing and a curse, as the Gypsies’ place in society has oscillated from “tolerated” to “actively persecuted" over the centuries of Western culture, especially in Europe. Loved or hated, a Gipsy woman was central to a lengthy lawsuit between two major Spanish #OliveOil corporations, competing over the rights to display her image on their labels. Since then, the company has changed the design of its label, gradually making it closer to the Carbonell label, say Carbonell executives. For its part, Carbonell label, better known as the Gypsy, originated in 1866 and has stayed practically the same ever since. In 1982, the owners of Carbonell filed their first lawsuit against Aceites del Sur. The second suit came 10 years later. Both were won by Aceites del Sur. In 1996, La Española registered its brand in the office of domestic market harmonization, and Carbonell responded by denouncing that move. A rebranding needs to come with not only a change of look, but also a change of attitude. Bockale previously was presented as Le Bockale, the equivalent of "The Bockale" in English. The ambition we have for the brand goes way beyond our native French market of Quebec. Therefore, in a quest for added simplicity and clarity, we decided to remove the « Le » in the revamped and redefined brand. Splitting BOCK and ALE in two layers was also necessary in order to facilitate a correct pronunciation within our French consumer base. Doing so also enabled us to integrate the slash icon. The vibrant green slash featured on all Bockale products is central in the design of the brand universe and will be found throughout our brand identity, acting as a recognizable icon and enabling us to present all products as a clear, strong family. The choice of color came as we saw that it is under-represented in the category and therefore would allow us to stand out within a visually crowded craft beer and non-alcoholic beer category. The somehow neon tone is reminiscent of energy, vitality and positivity, all elements that non-alcoholic consumers all looking for in their products choices, driven by a focus on health and wellness. The brush texture, not necessarily meant to reminisce of paint but more of movement and handmade writing, is there to add a notion of craft. The slash symbolizes a new era in beer, a new era for consumers, the notion of before and after. In fact, our extensive markets research revealed the power, the freedom that consumers get through integrating non-alcoholic beverages in their consumption habits, in existing and also new occasions. According to recent NielsenIQ data, non-alc beer, wine or spirits are only penetrating 3% of households across the US, symbol of the huge potential that represents the category for the future. The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) is making its mark in the 2024 General Election by announcing its Manifesto and e-lobby campaign. As one of the UK’s most successful campaigning organisations, CAMRA is calling on its members up and down the country to lobby candidates in every constituency to make sure MPs elected in this election are committed to protecting and promoting thriving community pubs and great beer and cider. CAMRA’s Election Manifesto outlines six key campaigning priorities, these are: •Fair tax for beer and pubs. •More rights for beer drinkers and pub goers. •Access to market for small and independent breweries and cider producers. •Recognising traditional cask ale under UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity •Better planning protections for pubs. [England-only] •Change the business rates system to make it fairer for pubs. [England-only] Election campaigns are a prime opportunity for politicians to be seen pulling a pint behind the bar of their local, but this doesn’t always translate into action that supports pubs, social clubs, brewers, cider makers, and consumers. CAMRA is asking for candidates to commit to the campaigning priorities outlined in its Manifesto, and back policy and legislation that can truly help the pub trade, brewers and consumers. This trend of beer collaborations, seen in several other collectives as well, demonstrates a growing interest in finding innovative methods to drive new revenue while respecting the restrictions on student-athletes promoting alcohol products.
