Very good Italy! Doing business with China has not made it less oppressive, rather the opposite. Decoupling from China, and other oppressive dictatorships, should be at the very top of the ESG agenda. https://lnkd.in/dHmTxDNG

Only a black swan could spoil the positive outlook that Lars-Christian Svensen interim CEO at Golden Ocean Group has for the dry bulk market in 2024. But by definition, a black swan can't be predicted. ”It’s hard to see any major negative factors next year, unless there is a black swan. I’m looking for both positive and negative signals so that we can adjust our positions accordingly,” Lars-Christian told me over the phone in relation to the release of the Q3 report. Golden Ocean Group’s interim chief struggles to find anything to actually worry about when looking ahead to the coming year in the dry cargo market. ”It’s hard to see any major negative factors next year, unless there is a black swan. I’m looking for both positive and negative signals so that we can adjust our positions accordingly,” says interim chief Lars-Christian Svensen. The optimism comes despite a weaker bottom line in the third quarter and an overall weaker 2023 than 2022. #shipping #freight #oceanfreight #finance #globaltrade

This week, the members of the Pacific Ocean Alliance have convened in Nadi to welcome our new Pacific Ocean Commissioner, Dr Filimon Manoni. It’s great to see such strong representation from regional agencies and national governments and territories in one room. This week's Regional Oceans Policy and Governance Dialogue is looking at oceans governance holistically to set the region on an ambitious direction. Navigating our complex ocean governance landscape to address the challenges we face is not simple – it's great to see the leadership we have for this journey. https://lnkd.in/gkU7WDFK

Research suggests that 3/4 companies that export cross-border then go on to export off-island. This is a brilliant example of how InterTradeIreland supports SMEs to take that first step, using the all-island market as a springboard to wider exports.
“We realised we needed to export to remain competitive. Logistically the Northern Ireland market was an easy option for us.” Hear from Liscarroll Engineering a Cork-based milk tank manufacturer, who used InterTradeIreland's Acumen programme to focus on securing new business in Northern Ireland, which then led to new business in the GB market.

The #Arctic ice-free port of #Narvik is vital for both commercial trade and military purposes. Narvik is the key port for receiving #Allied #reinforcements in the #HighNorth. It is also the connecting point with both railway and road #infrastructure for moving forces into #Sweden and #Finland. However, Narvik with its port is a serious bottleneck with limited capacity on rail, roads and in port staging areas. In order both to safeguard further commercial trade developments, and provide necessary port infrastructure for #Allied Reception, Staging and Onward Movement - #RSOM - it is now time for Norway to upgrade the necessary infrastructure! #AlliedOperations #ArcticInfrastructure #SecurityPolicy
