Last Sunday might have seemed like an ordinary day to most, but for women and girls in science, it is a very important one. On February 11, we celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. The initiative comes from the United Nations, in an effort to call attention to a persistent issue in terms of gender equality: the still significant gender gap in STEM all over the world. Two women who unintentionally show the way to young women in agriculture by being great at their technical jobs are Claudia Campanella and Angela Falagario. This week, we celebrate them and all the women in agtech who show the younger generations of women that it is possible. Because, as we know, representation matters. Even though women have made a lot of progress towards increasing their participation in higher education, they are still under-represented at all levels of science, technology, engineering and mathematics or STEM, a UN press release states. In an industry that is still very male-oriented as a whole, the gap is arguably even bigger in scientific and technical fields. The best way to motivate young girls to pursue a scientific or technical career in agriculture is by doing it, and that is where women like Claudia and Angela make a significant difference. Let’s meet Claudia. https://lnkd.in/dU_rExzr Thank you, New Holland Agriculture , for being the cheerleaders of the women in your company! #womeninag #womeninagmag #womeninagriculture #womeninSTEM

On this 11th of February, as we celebrate an International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we want to reflect on the challenges and opportunities for women in science and education. Constituting only 33.3% of global researchers, women face disparities in funding, representation, and career advancement. For the last 25 years, the Women in Science International League has tirelessly advocated for gender equality in science. Their efforts in promoting career opportunities and advocating for rights have been instrumental. At E-Quadrat, we're proud to say that exactly 50% of our employees are women. Yet, there's more to be done globally and recognize the broader context. For example, UNESCO reports that only 35% of students currently enrolled in STEM fields worldwide are female, indicating a continued need for promoting gender diversity across industries. In fields like artificial intelligence, only 22% are women. In engineering, only 28% of graduates are women and there is 40% of female graduates in computer science and IT. As we strive towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, collectively committing to improving the role of all women and girls in science becomes even more important to expand the pool of talent that brings fresh perspectives and creativity. Together, we can build a more inclusive and innovative future🚀 #WomenInSTEM #GenderEquality #February11 #Womeninscience

Honouring Women in Business and Engineering on International Women's Day On International Women's Day, we honour and celebrate the contributions and accomplishments of women all around the world. It is a day to recognise the progress made towards gender equality and to acknowledge the challenges that women still face in various spheres of life. In the fields of engineering and business, women have made significant strides, breaking barriers, shattering stereotypes, and paving the way for future generations. One of the key factors driving the increasing presence of women in engineering is greater access to education and training. Educational institutions and organisations have implemented initiatives to encourage girls and women to pursue studies in STEM fields. Scholarships, mentorship programmes, and outreach efforts have helped to break down barriers and empower women to pursue careers in engineering. Together, let us celebrate the achievements of women and work towards a world where all women have equal opportunities to succeed and thrive. #international_woman_day #womanownedbusiness #woman #womanentrepreneur

Today is International Day of Women and Girls in Science, a day that serves as a reminder of the pivotal role women play in shaping our science and technology communities, and that granting equal access to STEM careers for women and girls is paramount in achieving true gender equality in the sector. While there have been positive advancements in the number of women working within the STEM sectors, there is still a long way to go. From gender bias in early education to feeling forced out by exclusionary cultures, women in STEM still face many barriers, and are disproportionately represented in leadership roles. So how can the sector work towards removing these barriers? • Adopting inclusive hiring practices • Promoting visibility of women in key positions • Providing upskilling and career advancement opportunities, particularly in pre- and middle-management positions Click the link to learn more about the International Day of Women and Girls in Science: https://lnkd.in/ewY_6ij #IDWGIS #WomenInScience

Celebrating the International Day of Women and Girls in Science! 👩⚕️ 💜 Today, we commemorate the incredible achievements of women and girls in science. Still, we can't ignore the critical importance of promoting full and equal access to scientific opportunities. According to UNESCO, only 33.3% of the global average percentage are female researchers, and merely 35% of all students in STEM-related fields of study are women. Encouraging young girls to pursue interests in science from an early age is crucial. By exposing them to successful women scientists as role models, we can inspire future generations to break barriers and thrive in traditionally male-dominated fields. Every young girl should be empowered to explore science without limitations. Diversity drives innovation. When we include diverse perspectives and experiences in scientific research and discovery, we unlock new solutions to complex problems and propel society forward. Let's commit to fostering an environment where every woman and girl has the opportunity to pursue their dreams in science. Together, we can create a future where gender equality in science is not just a goal but a reality. #WomenInScience #GirlsInSTEM #GenderEquality #ScienceForAll 🚀🔬👩🔬

Today, as we celebrate the remarkable contributions of women and girls in science, we also advocate for closing the gender gap in STEM. Currently, women represent only 28% of the STEM workforce. Closing the gender gap will not only drive sustainable tech-enabled growth and innovation but is also deemed an economic necessity. Together, let’s champion a future where every scientific spark is fueled, irrespective of gender. #ZayedSustainabilityPrize #WomeninScience

Happy International Day of Women and Girls in Science! (https://lnkd.in/g4jvD5dB) In a world where the voices and achievements of women and girls have often been overlooked, celebrating girls in science is not just a nod to gender equality but a fundamental step toward building a more inclusive society. Stereotypes have long dictated the roles deemed appropriate for women and girls, limiting their aspirations and achievements. By taking time to celebrate girls in science, we help challenge these outdated norms, showing girls everywhere that they belong in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields, just as much as their male counterparts. Celebrating achievements of other women in science also provides girls with role models. This empowerment is critical for helping shape self-esteem and confidence, both in and out of the classroom. Let’s champion the achievements of girls in every STEM field and work towards a world where every girl has the opportunity to pursue her passions without barriers! #GirlsInScience #Empowerment #SocialWork #GenderEquality #Womeninscienceday #STEM
