"If I had a magic wand - what would you want your firm to look like?" ✨ Each week at Swoop for Advisors we share insights from the industry and often call upon our Accounting Community friends to continue our understanding of how we can better work with our partners. It's not just how we can get more partners (even though of course we'd love to) it's making sure we look at this from a Practice Success standpoint, than just transactional. This week it was Vipul S. from AdvanceTrack Outsourcing (Thank you, Vipul! 🤗) Vipul is an advocate of working with others in the industry to lift the bar of ways of working and setting new standards 📈 He also shared a killer line... "If I had a magic wand - what would you want your firm to look like?" ✨ What would that look like for you? #betterconversations #advisoryservices #accounting

Being a fractional CFO is like riding a motorcycle… (part 6) When riding a motorcycle, it is essential to look as far down the road as possible. We call the place where you can longer see the road the “vanishing point.” An experienced motorcycle rider is trained to look for the vanishing point And continuously move the bike within the lane in order to have the best view of it. In doing this, we have the clearest views of traffic, wildlife, obstructions, etc. So that we have as much time as possible to react to impending danger. The same principle applies in accounting. The month-end close is similar to approaching an obstacle on the road. When looking far out ahead, we can think where we can best navigate To prevent errors, bottlenecks, and time crunches. We use the second half of each month to plan for the next month-end close cycle to: - schedule check points in case data transfers are errant, - set up calls with clients to understand key transactions, - identify and improve automations in processing transactions, - identify board meetings and deadlines that impact our timing, - document the timeline so all employees know what to do and when, That is how high-quality accountants keep their focus set on the vanishing point. And similar to riding a motorcycle, it’s critical that accountants shift gears, move laterally, and scan the terrain in order to identify and navigate obstacles in the road ahead. Sharai Lavoie Lavoie CPA PLLC #striveforexcellence #cashflow #AccountingAsAService This photo was taken while I was on a cross-country motorcycle trip. I was riding the “Loneliest Highway” in Nevada and cutting through the mountains. Note the location of the vanishing point (marked with an arrow)… it’s not straight ahead. It’s to the left as the road curves.
