Re/ Billionare LOOTING of the Middle Class: a brilliant article here by Thom Hartmann. The GOP's sponsors get their 'base' all riled up and ready to fight over gun rights, gay rights, abortion rights, voting rights, and every issue under the sun that turns 'em out to vote. BUT the COMMON THREAD running through & among all of the GOP's underinformed 'base' is most telling: They have ALL been more or less brainwashed into being, "AGAINST taxes & government regulations!" Just like the clever billionaires who control their media: their simple passions are ALL about increasing their billionaire sponsors' preciou$ bottom lines. How very self defeating for the average GOPer. Not to mention the fact that you cannot have a sustainable democracy - nor a viable Biosphere - without proper taxes and regulations. Behind the nutty messaging of America's pervasive rightwing media & the GOP is the simple love of rich men's money. 🌎 • ⏳ LET'S ALL of us who care about the Earth's health - & for future generations - stick together creating & advocating for positive changes, and not waste too much of our time reacting to the knee-jerk BS of rightwingers. 🗳️ VOTE BLUE! 🇺🇸 #democracy #progressive #community #GOP #propaganda #fascism #oligarchy #politics #Anthropocene --------- 8 March, 2023 ----------

“Human rights are not states rights” #HealOurCulture https://lnkd.in/gMk4c65b The essence of human rights lies in their universality – they are inherent entitlements belonging to every individual, not privileges granted by state authorities subject to alteration by local governments or popular opinion. These rights are enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, yet there persists a global debate over the extent of one's humanity and the full spectrum of rights that should be universally guaranteed. These rights surpass even those outlined in the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights, encompassing the liberties of marriage to a partner of one’s choosing, the recognition of one's gender as per personal identity and choice, and the right of women to have sovereignty over their reproductive decisions without government interference. Additionally, human rights provide protections against torture and enslavement, even in situations of incarceration. At their core, these rights include the fundamental right to life, safeguarding individuals from state-sanctioned execution and from inhumane conditions such as prolonged solitary confinement. Human rights are inalienable and non-negotiable. Some thoughts inspired by my reading (actually LISTENING on Audible) “How the South Won the Civil War: Oligarchy, Democracy, and the Continuing Fight for the Soul of America" by Heather Cox Richardson https://lnkd.in/gcZQSd3f

We need a working-class party with a socialist and anti-imperialist perspective that is completely independent of the Democrats and the bosses. Toward that goal, we are putting forward for discussion and debate with the whole vanguard and the Left, a platform for a working-class party that fights for socialism and the rights of all of the exploited and oppressed.

America in the 21st century is a hotbed of progressive potential unrealized, a gigantic rainbow swirl of activism & movements, waiting to join forces. "Resistance is fertile" literally in 2024. If Dems & Indies are clever & strategic, they can counter the fascist dumbing-down & derangement of the despotic cult dedicated to to a supreme loser. Great to see youth activists waking America up to the existential threat of mob boss's maga corruption cult, to social, ethical, health, environment, freedom, reality. Biggest "smash & grab" in history, putin-kleptocracy-aligned mania & ongoing insurrection. America's massive untapped non-voter population, voter registration & turn-out potential for taking the entire country back. https://lnkd.in/gD7RN995 💜 🌊

Protecting Individual Rights: The Essence of a Truly Patriotic Nation Hey everyone! 🇺🇸 Today, I wanted to discuss an important aspect of patriotism that often gets overlooked: the protection of individual rights and democratic values. It's crucial to recognize that an excessive or extreme national or ethnic identity can trample upon our democratic rights as individuals. Narrow-minded nationalism is nothing more than a tool used by those in power to manipulate the masses. True patriotism lies in safeguarding the personal interests and private property of every citizen. Only in such a nation can we find the true meaning of patriotism. 🗽 We should strive for a society that upholds the principles of democracy, equality, and individual freedoms. Our love for our country should be rooted in the belief that every individual deserves the right to express their opinions, pursue their dreams, and enjoy the fruits of their labor. 🌟 Let us remember that the strength of a nation lies in its ability to protect its citizens' rights and create an environment where everyone can thrive. It's about cherishing the diversity of ideas and perspectives that make our nation strong. 🌎 So, as proud people of a civilized country , let's embrace a patriotism that values the rights and well-being of every individual. Let's work towards creating a society that truly represents the ideals and principles upon which our great nation was founded. 🙌 #PatriotismWithPurpose #ProtectingIndividualRights #UnitedWeStand

🇺🇸 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝗗𝗮𝘆! 🇺🇸 Today, we commemorate the signing of the 13th Amendment, a monumental step toward liberty in American history. Yet, like a symphony, true freedom requires all voices in harmony. While progress has been made since 1865, systemic inequalities and injustices continue to plague our nation, from racial profiling and mass incarceration to voter suppression and economic disparities. As James Baldwin said, “Not everything that is faced can be changed; but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” His words serve as a stark reminder that complacency is our enemy. 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗮 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆. 𝗟𝗲𝘁 𝘂𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: ✅️ 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺. We owe a debt of gratitude to the countless individuals who courageously challenged injustice and paved the way for a more just society. ✅️ 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀. These fundamental values are the bedrock of a just and equitable society, and we must actively defend them. ✅️ 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗼𝗺. Knowledge empowers us to shape a more just future. Acknowledge and commit to dismantling systems perpetuating struggles for equality. ✅️ 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Speak out against injustice, challenge harmful stereotypes, and stand up for the rights of all. ✅️ 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆. Every step, from advocating for policy changes to challenging personal biases, contributes to the collective movement for freedom. Remember, freedom is not a destination; it's a journey we must walk together. Consultant, Entrepreneur, Co-Founder & Chair of Stepping UP Diverse Leadership Academy and Bristol Legacy Foundation, Former Deputy Mayor of Bristol
Unbeknown to me I had been nominated and shortlisted as a finalist for Political Figure of the Year at this years Baton Awards With no expectations, I attended last nights awards ceremony alongside my 3 daughters which was held at the very prestigious BMA HQ in London. When my name was called as the winner I went up to receive my award, gave a short acceptance speech and went off to do a short filmed interview. When I got back to my table, I hugged my three daughters and then a wave of emotion & dare I say it tears came over me. My story is steeped in community activism fuelled by systemic racial injustice. I’m an “accidental politician”. I entered the political arena in 2016 and in short succession was appointed by Mayor Marvin Rees to his Cabinet and then asked to step up into the role of Deputy Mayor alongside my friend & comrade Cllr Craig Cheney. Black women in political leadership have made significant strides in recent years, although we still face unique challenges and barriers. Despite these obstacles, we continue to take up positions of power and influence in various political arenas. Earlier in the week I spoke about my political and activist journey at a Race & Culture conference held at the Ministry of Defence. Below is an extract from my Keynote Speech ….. “Today, I stand before you as a proud woman, a black political leader, and a community activist. As a woman, I recognize the unique challenges we face in a world that has historically been dominated by men. However, I also see the incredible strength and resilience that lies within us. Our voices, our perspectives, and our experiences are invaluable assets that can shape policies and bring about meaningful change. It is essential that we continue to break down barriers and fight for gender equality, ensuring that every woman has the opportunity to unleash her full potential. Being a black woman adds another layer of complexity to my identity. I am part of a community that has faced systemic oppression and discrimination for centuries. But I refuse to let this define me solely as a victim. Instead, I choose to embrace my rich cultural heritage and the legacy of those who fought for justice before me. I am proud of who I am, and I use my platform to amplify the voices of others who have been marginalized and silenced. As a political leader, I have a responsibility to represent and advocate for the needs and concerns of my community. I understand the importance of inclusive policies that address the unique challenges faced by women and black communities. I strive to create opportunities for dialogue, collaboration, and change, ensuring that the voices of those who have been traditionally unheard are not only heard but also acted upon”. Thank you for this recognition. Honoured to win this award. 🙏🏾🏅

The Right has been studying Antonio Gramsci's ideas on culture and ideology, leading to a strategic focus on regaining institutional power. This essay explores one such effort, #Project2025, a blueprint for right-wing dominance if Trump wins the 2024 election. READ: https://lnkd.in/dFgH3Y5f
