Interesting insight from Dan Goldin!

What's a memorable lesson or analogy in heard in your career, and how did it impact you? For me it's a story shared by Dr. Eric Omuru during my Strategic Planning Training. The story was of a janitor who worked at NASA. In 1962, JFK was visiting the NASA space center. During his visit, he noticed a janitor carrying a broom. He walked over to him and said “Hi, I’m Jack Kennedy. What are you doing?” The janitor responded, “Well Mr. President, I’m helping put a man on the moon.” In that one sentence, the man connected his work to the main purpose of all NASA employees. He knew that by providing a clean and safe work environment, he was helping engineers have the physical work space needed to do their calculations. Together, they were all contributing towards putting a man on the moon. Each person had their own part to contribute. Recognizing how their individual pieces connected to the vision helped each of them to be engaged and inspired. Each person contributes to overall outcomes and achievements. Magic happens when leaders help each person realize how. #strategy #teamwork #business #growth

SPACE - THE BIG PICTURE My dear friend Dan Goldin always posts such insightful and relevant information. He is generous with his time and experience. My response to his most recent post is as follows: "Space is Hard" - that's my motto. But it is unbelievably relevant to the survival of our species and planet. I am often asked why I am in the Space Industry...from my perspective, it is the only place we can glean all of the changes we want and need to make on this planet. Have you ever been in a discussion or argument and realize that you have to step back and look at the 'big picture'? That is what I believe we do when we go to space. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐓 At this moment, the 2 leading space research organizations in the world are NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration of America and ISRO - Indian Space Research Organization of Bharat But the difference between them is that 36% Indian scientists work in NASA, and not a single American scientist works in ISRO.

While legislation often takes the spotlight when it comes to employing individuals with disabilities in the federal government, it's crucial not to overlook the equally vital role played by regulations and agency plans. This panels discussion at the Inclusion Through Policy Innovation Conference delved into this timely and often underestimated topic. Purdue is known as the "Cradle of Astronauts" coming out of the last century. But what will the future bring? We are gradually realizing the enormity of the challenge of leaving LEO and embarking into "real" deep space. Radiation and logistics can only be solved by addressing the biological gaps and the BioAstronautics approach will evolve and create those emerging technology platforms... ironically the very same technologies we need to achieve biosustainability and save the earth!!
