We are thrilled to celebrate 10 years of StorTera! This is an excellent opportunity to reflect on our mission and the impact we have made. 10 is an important number for us in our ambition to develop the world's most sustainable battery with a levelised cost of £10/MWh and a carbon footprint 10 times lower than current lithium-ion batteries - this is what is needed to enable renewable energy deployment on a global scale to displace fossil fuels. Humanity is rapidly running out of time and our global actions are currently insufficient to meet our carbon reduction targets. This is what drives us at StorTera and it is why we are fully committed to the rapid commercialisation of our single liquid flow battery (SLiQ). The SliQ is being designed to be a fully circular technology that will be manufactured around the world using localised supply chains. Our ambition is achievable because of our amazing team who share a common purpose and will do what it takes to succeed because we need to get more of the right technology out there. We have been given this opportunity largely thanks to the strong network of support that we have built around us and we would like to say thank you for your support on our journey, for believing in what we are trying to do here. What does Starlight's business model look like? Starlight’s business model involves full control over each stage of the development process and the oversight of each step required in order to obtain all the authorisations needed to achieve the ready-to-build status, and prepare the renewable energy assets for construction and operation. All the development activities from land scouting, through projects design and obtainment of all the required authorisations are managed by in-house dedicated teams of technicians, financiers and lawyers. Starlight places high regard on aspects such as local community engagement, biodiversity net-gain initiatives, and landscape and agricultural integration with renewable energy assets installation when deciding which development initiatives to undertake. Excited to be a part of the hugely ambitious Zero Terrain / Energiasalv team, under the leadership of founder and CEO Peep Siitam. Last week I had the opportunity to visit the site of the first Zero Terrain project, located in Paldiski, Estonia. This 500MW Pumped-hydro storage (PHS) project is a European Commission Project of Common Interest (PCI) and all the main building permits are in place. Zero Terrain’s novel PHS technology is the next-generation solution in the field, eliminating the need for altitude difference in terrain as the plant can be built on flat land; traditional pumped-hydro storages can only be built in mountainous areas. It is clear that Long-duration Energy Storage (LDES) such as this will be a key provider of energy security. Pumped-hydro storage (PHS) is a mature and affordable LDES technology that supports greater renewable power generation. A project such as this is a cornerstone of renewable energy strategies due to its carbon-neutral nature and cost-effectiveness. It will also reduce reliance on Russian gas. The exciting opportunity with Zero Terrain is that the technology offers the opportunity to apply the benefits of PHS in other countries where it was previously impossible due to geographical conditions. 📢 Exciting News! 📢 We're thrilled to announce Cathal Lee as part of our team to help kickstart Zero Terrain's global growth! With Cathal on board, we'll be elevating our global strategy, enhancing stakeholder engagement, and working with key partners across the globe. Welcome aboard, Cathal! Together we will work to support affordable local renewable energy and create a secure clean future for generations to come. 🌍💡 #Welcome #TeamExpansion #ZeroTerrain #EnergyInnovation #GlobalStrategy #StakeholderEngagement #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy #FutureOfEnergy

☀️🌍 Europe's largest solar park ! At the end of March, HANSAINVEST Real Assets GmbH inaugurated Europe's largest photovoltaic power plant. With a current output of 605 MW, Witznitz solar park surpasses the Spanish mega-stations Francisco Pizarro and Núñez de Balboa. Installed in less than 2 years by the developer Move On Energy GmbH, the plant, which is still being expanded, plans to reach 650 MW⚡ by this summer. The company has taken innovative measures to promote biodiversity 🌱 (nesting boxes for birds, shelters for bats, corridors for large animals, vegetation and water points, etc.) on a site heavily impacted by former mining activity. The project is covered by a 15-year power purchase agreement with Shell Energy Europe. A new solar farm that tries to cohabit more harmoniously with wildlife🐇! #SolarEnergy #SustainableDevelopment #RenewableEnergy

Collaborating with local stakeholders is a key factor in reaching Eolus sustainability target to be the preferred renewable energy actor in local communities 🤝 Every year we allocate “wind funds” to support local development initiatives over the lifespan of the wind farms. The funds are accessible to associations and schools surrounding the wind farms, prioritizing projects benefiting children, youth activities, recreational spaces, and tourism. The funds support various projects, some of the latest projects have been: 👉 Enhanced tourism through the upkeep of fishing spots, among those a wheelchair-accessible fishing pier. 👉 Enriched recreational opportunities through the installation of an outdoor gym, disc golf course, and a pétanque court, 👉 Upgrades to a local culture center with a new door and deck, providing possibility for out door activities throughout the year. #Eolus #Renewables #RenewableEnergy #ShapingTheFuture #SustainabilityStrategy

Agrivoltaics: "not just dual-use, dual-value." Thrilled that Nick de Vries and his team are not only out there just doing it, but sharing what they learn. Solar development can be (and often is) done poorly, but doesn't have to be an either/or any more than your rooftop. It's all just about looking for synergies in harvesting highly abundant sunshine. https://lnkd.in/g54g6yDY

You can tell that agrivoltaics has come a long way, when solar companies are investing in sheep and hiring shepherds. Kudos to Silicon Ranch Corporation for helping to graze a path to a cleaner and sustainable energy and agricultural future. #solar #agrivoltaics #solargrazing #graze #sustainableenergy #sustainableagriculture

Mapecon Green Charcoal Philippines Inc’s (MGCPI) facility in Alaminos, Laguna is a hub for agricultural research and development wherein founder Mr. Gonzalo “Jun” Catan, Jr Catan continuously finds ways to improve his patented Green Charcoal. His son Mars Catan manages the facility. The principle of sustainability is at the core of the MGCPI’s production practices. In keeping with MGCPI’s values of caring for the environment and ensuring sustainability, the company in 2019 had a solar PV system installed on the rooftop of its main warehouse and storage facility. The installation is a 93.24kWp grid-tied system built with 296 units (315w/panel) and three SolarEdge inverters. For the last four years, the system has been helping MGCPI save at least P100,085 monthly or P1.2 million annually on electricity costs. By operating the system, MGCPI has sequestered 1,855 metric tons of carbon emissions, equivalent to the amount mitigated by 883,432 trees in 25 years. “We want to develop a paradigm wherein the use of solar technology is not just for cost-cutting and sustainability, but also for income generation. So many agricultural activities can be powered by solar energy, and we want Filipinos to know this. Not only do we save on electricity costs or contribute to climate change mitigation efforts by going solar – we can also generate profit. Free electricity from the sun should be maximized for income generation efforts– school, dioceses, institutions with sufficient land space can put up green projects powered by solar,” said Mr. Catan. Watch the video for more information on how solar makes wonders! https://lnkd.in/gkKJWMk8
