Studies show that taking breaks away from your desk during the day reduces, or even prevents, stress, restores positive energy and promotes overall wellness. In addition to year round, free mental health resources we provide to all employees, this #wellness month we’ve been purposeful with our time in the office disconnecting with our desks, while connecting with each other. A few of our favorites ways to take a break include: 🔵 Guided breathing meditations 🔵 Screen-free healthy lunches 🔵 Leg stretching neighborhood walks (including to our favorite local coffee shops) What are your favorite ways to take a break during the workday?

Wellbeing in the Workplace Off to get your lunch? Walking from car to office? Crossing from one building to another? Or even better, today is a sunny day, and you can go for a quick walk during your lunch break? Here is a simple way to connect with nature to get the most out of your walk: Five Senses Exercise: Engage your senses to connect with your surroundings. What can you hear? Maybe it's the distant sound of traffic or the chatter of people. What can you smell? Perhaps there's a waft of food from a nearby café or the subtle scent of trees. Use your five senses to fully engage with the environment, even if it's a brief walk. At Buzzing Roots, we recognise the profound impact of mental health and wellbeing on our community. But it's equally crucial in the workplace. Here's why: 🌟 Boosts Productivity: Employees in good mental health can focus better, solve problems more effectively, and contribute to a harmonious work environment. A win-win for both employees and employers. 🌟 Reduces Absenteeism and Turnover: Investing in mental health can significantly cut down on sick days and staff turnover, saving the company both time and money. 🌟 Enhances Company Reputation: A company that values its employees' mental health attracts top talent and positively influences its standing among clients and investors. #wellbingatwork #productivity #EmployeeWellbeing #NatureConnection #WorkLifeBalance #MindfulnessAtWork

We're well and truly into spring now, which means it's time for our annual ☀️Spring Wellbeing Series ☀️. As we all emerge out of the cold, subdued, quiet days of winter with a spring in our step there's no better time than now to take stock of and review the status of your current physical and mental wellbeing - which includes assessing your workplace habits, routines and wellness too. Over the next few weeks, we'll be posting some tips, challenges, discussion questions and interesting articles as a gentle reminder to actively think more about both your workplace and personal wellbeing, and how you can incorporate small changes to create bigger impacts for your health. So we're starting with this post - a small and gentle reminder to a step back from your current activities, acknowledge how you’re feeling. Ask yourself, how are you going? What does your current day-to-day routine look like? Is wellbeing something you've had time to take stock of so far? Why/or why not? Start a conversation with yourself and share what you'd like to in the comments below - we'd love to hear about how you've been going with trying to maintain a positive and healthy wellbeing status and what challenges you've identified! #wellbeing #lifestyle #tips #smallchanges #yourhealth #review #spring #workplacewellbeing #workplacewellness #startaconversation #routine #habits

***The Underrated Power of Pauses in the Workplace*** 🌿 In the hustle of our daily tasks, taking a moment to pause might seem like a luxury we can't afford. But, as I've learned through my own journey, these brief intervals of rest are not just beneficial; they are essential. 🧘♂️ Personally, incorporating short breaks into my schedule has been transformative. Here I am taking a 10 min walk around the block, deliberately stepping away from the computer and breathing in fresh air. It’s amazing how a few minutes of disconnection can boost creativity and focus. It was the case here. I was stuck, procrastrinating. After this walk, the blank page was not that threatening. 🏢 At an organizational level, fostering a culture where breaks are encouraged and normalized is key. Simple initiatives like ‘No Meeting Zones’ can create an environment that supports mental wellbeing and productivity. When we prioritize mental health and rest, we set a precedent. It’s about creating a workspace where taking a break is seen as an act of self-care, not a sign of weakness. 💬 How do you incorporate rest into your workday? Does your organization have practices that support mental well-being? #mentalhealth #rest #pause
