#Topics Stack Overflow lays off over 100 people as the AI coding boom continues [ad_1] Coding help forum Stack Overflow is laying off 28 percent of its staff as it struggles toward profitability. CEO Prashanth Chandrasekar announced today that the company is “significantly reducing the size of our go-to-market organization,” as well as “supporting teams” and other groups. After the team doubled its employee base last year, Chandrasekar told The Verge’s Nilay Patel in an interview that about 45 percent of those hires were for its go-to-market sales team, which he said was “obviously the largest team.” We’ve reached out to Stack Overflow to find out what other teams may have been affected.Word of the layoffs comes over a year after the company made a big hiring push, doubling its size to over 500 people. Stack Overflow did not elaborate on the reasons for the layoff, but its hiring push began near the start of a generative AI boom that has stuffed chatbots into every corner of the tech industry, including coding. That presents clear challenges for a personal coding help forum, as developers get comfortable with AI coding assistance and the very tools that do that are blended into products they use. Stack Overflow lays off over 100 employees, which make up around 28% of its workforce. The move comes only a year after the company doubled its headcount during a massive hiring campaign. CEO of Stack Overflow, Prashanth Chandrasekar, announced that “this year we took many steps to spend less,” but “unfortunately, those changes were not enough.” Chandrasekar further stated that “ongoing threats to customer budgets shifting due to the macroeconomic pressures impacting the entire tech industry.” Google researchers point out that “GitHub Copilot and LLM chatbots are causing a big drop in StackOverflow traffic.” #StackOverflow #AI #ChatGPT #Layoffs #USA #Canada #News #TechNews #Tech #ITW Image: Stack Overflow

Software Engineer (SDE 2) ( Hashedin by Deloitte) Core Java | Spring boot | Microservices | Kafka| Redis | Hibernate/Jpa | EX -Developer @ TCS | Student @ Scaler |DSA -→Solved 508+ Problems on Scaler/Leetcode
Hi All, As I'm Coming from a family of farmers where no one was even remotely related to the tech field, I knew it was upon me to forge my path within the field. As studied in NON-IT engineering during my graduation , but I had a very much Interest in the software Engineering Field & stimulation that the tech field brings with it. That’s when I decided to fully transition into the tech sector by first learning the basics because anyone working in the field would agree that there are a few things integral to your work: 1] Problem-solving skills that are only built when you consistently work on them 2] Some specific skills that you need to augment your performance at work 3] Constantly upgrading your knowledge to learn newer technologies as well ▶️To work on these, I joined Scaler owing to their well-structured curriculum. With their live sessions, I learned daily without fail. Some of the things that truly quickened my process were 💻 Technical knowledge: With daily lectures with experienced instructors, I built my technical knowledge about both DSA and system designs 💻 Constant support with queries: This was especially helpful while I sat to solve problems. So even if I get stuck at any point while solving the problems, I can reach out to TAs for assistance. My Scaler Profile : https://lnkd.in/dNAAA_hQ Even while I share with you the areas where I have progressed, I’d like to also mention the challenges that went down during this time. Firstly, coming from a non-tech background, it was difficult to get acclimatized to the core tech topics. Secondly, I didn’t have the exact career path to follow to witness progress. That’s exactly what Scaler helped me- they gave me a path to follow for the same. A big thank you to the Scaler team and Naman Bhalla Balla sir for being a constant support throughout. I am now working at Lumina Datamatics company and growing everyday! In closing, let's underscore the significance of nurturing your problem-solving abilities. With steadfast dedication and daily practice, you'll find yourself adeptly navigating the complexities of any challenge. Here's to your continued growth and success!! #scaler #tech #upskilling #DSA #motivation
