We didn’t win but it is nice to still present what we’ve achieved. Our abstract was accepted as a poster at the New Zealand & Australian Rheumatology Association Scientific Meeting and we were able to present it last week in Christchurch. I wanted a 15 minute live presentation but unfortunately missed out again. Could be my writing skills but I also think it’s because we aren’t presenting research. Medical conferences are typically very evidenced based and innovation at times can take a backwards seat. Saying that, I’m glad Sarah Comensoli suggested we still present a poster. She did a great job and so did Love Dayne Kidlat for bringing it altogether. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved with BJC Connect (bjcconnect.com.au), our online platform for education and patient support that helps many of our patients with their conditions in between their routine clinical consultations. Our achievements to date: - 7300 members - +75 NPS (net promoter score) You’ll also see Robyn Yin and Belinda Prince lending their support. Often, we were forget to pat ourselves on the back. Actually, just writing that sentence makes me feel a little awkward. This post is good practice. It’s on my wellbeing list after “deep breathing” and “slowing down” 😅 Lastly, any tips for me when it comes to submitting conference abstracts, apart from “go do the research” or “go to non-clinical conferences”? 😁

Exciting Milestone: $18.8 Million Boost for the National One Stop Shop for Clinical Trials and Health Research I am immensely proud to share a significant achievement that's been years in the making. Thanks to the relentless dedication and hard work of the Clinical Trials Project Reference Group, now called the Inter-Governmental Policy Reform Group (IGPRG), $18.8 million has been secured to advance the National One Stop Shop for clinical trials and health research. This initiative, a testament to the transformative power of collaboration, represents a significant step forward for health and medical research in Australia. The journey to this point has been filled with persistent efforts, deep and broad consultations, detailed negotiations, and an unwavering commitment to listening and understanding the needs within our sector (too many to mention but for one example the R&D Taskforce). A commitment to remain steadfast, undeterred by challenges, and focused on strategic objectives has paid off, and it's time to move forward at full speed. Exciting News! Managing Director of BioLink Intelligence, Joachim Luithle joined a panel consisting of Uli Broedl, Joerg Moeller, M.D. and Dilek Denizli on a webinar on "Recruitment Remedies: How to Avoid Recruitment Barriers, from Planning to Rescuing Clinical Trials," in partnership with Clariness and Michael Stadler 🔗 Webinar Recap: https://lnkd.in/ee8RtxhX During our panel discussion we highlighted key challenges in clinical trial enrolment, discussing remedies for competing study enrolment issues. The importance of aligning trials with medical practice, strategies for finding the right patients, and the bottlenecks of pre-screening patients. We explored remedies like improving study designs and patient engagement, and discussed why aligning trial designs with medical practice is crucial for success. Investigators conducting studies should consider integrating medical practice into protocols to potentially enhance recruitment success. Strategies for finding the right patients included using patient registries and social media outreach. The webinar highlighted the need for sponsors to consider medical practice in trial design to improve recruitment and outcomes. Overall, the webinar provided valuable insights and strategies for overcoming enrolment challenges in clinical trials, setting the stage for further discussions on this critical topic. #clinicaltrials #Recruitment #RecruitmentStrategies #BioLinkIntelligence

Now that I'm home and recovered, I've been reflecting on the wonderful few days last week spent at #ISMPPAnnual2024. There were engaging presentations, so much to be learned (77 posters!), and a rare opportunity to catch up with so many amazing people in-person. Long post incoming, but my highlights from the week included: 🏷 All of the labels you could pick from to add to your lanyard, including yellow for Patient Advocate, demonstrating ISMPP (International Society for Medical Publication Professionals)'s commitment to medical publications with, by, and for patients. 🎗 Meeting Shannon Ragland Lake after hearing her present the story of her journey to patient advocacy. Seeing representation on stage of Ehlers Danlos syndrome and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia syndrome was emotional to say the least! 👩🏫 Facilitating a a workshop on patient partnership in publications. Featuring Patricia Segarini, PhD's superbly creative fictional treatments and conditions for an interactive pubs planning exercise which definitely won her a few laughs, e.g. hairlossinib for DAD syndrome aka hair loss from excessive screen/tablet use! 🍽 Kelly Ann Soldavin inviting me to to be an honorary publisher for the night and gatecrash dinner with Rachel Jenkins, Sam Cavana, Jonathan Patience, Joanne Walker, Laura Dormer, and Hamish McDougall (thank you all 😁!). 🗣 Co-moderating an Open Pharma roundtable with Joana Osório on data sharing and reading all of the Oxford PharmaGenesis research presented at the poster session. ✨ Many, many more conversations and catch ups over tea/bubbles/dinner with our incredible network of medical publishing professionals. Until next year ✌️ #PatientAdvocate #PatientAdvocacy #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs #PatientPartnership #PatientEngagement #PatientCentricity #PatientAndPublicInvolvement #PatientAuthorship #Publishing #MedicalCommunications #MedComms #OxfordPharmaGenesis
