As I ease back into sharing here, I continue to think about the power of #connection and #community and how important it is to take a moment to celebrate each other's achievements. So many of our battles as women and women leaders feel hard won and it becomes important and empowering to find moments to celebrate our wins. Something I’m very proud and excited about is that Shirley McAlpine & Associates has been selected as a semi-finalist for the 2024 Job Creators Quest grant! This grant is an initiative to launch Founders First CDC Community Development Corporation’s support for small businesses from diverse backgrounds to scale and impact the ecosystem. (https://lnkd.in/gxPE_nUX) I’m so grateful to my team, George Hurvitt, MBA, Seema N. Patel, and Joyce Ferris for helping me express and represent the powerful work we do and we’re crossing our fingers about what comes next. I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR ABOUT SOMETHING YOU'RE PROUD OF ACCOMPLISHING RECENTLY IN THE COMMENTS. Please share! #Celebration #Community #Support #jobcreation #communitydevelopment #smallbusiness #womensempowerment #womeninbusiness #womenfounders

Often, women are taught to avoid risk, not manage it. We were raised to not go out alone, or after dark. To not walk down *that* street. To not wait too long to get married or to have children. Some of us won't apply for a job unless we have a 100% of the qualifications. Or ask for a raise because it might make us seem unlikeable. I was at an event recently where some of the speakers were women who had recently taken big risks. The Q&As were filled with questions from women in the audience along the lines of "Aren't you worried?" and "What if _____ happens?" and "What gave you the confidence?". The subtext behind almost every question was “How can I be certain it'll work out if I take a leap too?” You can’t. But you can build a better relationship with uncertainty. And you can learn to bet on yourself. ************* 🪜Fix The Broken Rung is writing a new story for the next generation of leaders. Our mission is to help one million women of color get promoted. 🔔 Follow me --> Amal Masri <-- to join the movement.

Thoughtful Thursday. Note. Support. Share. Did you know.... In 2018, U.S. companies raised a total of $130B in VC funding, yet only 2.2% of that total went toward Women-founded companies and less than 1% of total funding was allocated toward businesses founded by women of color (FORTUNE, 2018)? @ariansimone established the @fearless.fund to address the gap that exists in venture capital funding for Women of Color-led businesses. Their mission is to create equitable access to resources and the support needed for Women of Color owned businesses to have a fairer playing field to succeed. FEARLESS FUND: Impact 346+ GRANTS GIVEN AWAY 3M+ AWARDED IN PROGRAM FUNDING 22K+ WOMEN OF COLOR APPLIED FOR GRANTS NONETHELESS....... The American Alliance for Equal Rights (AAER), led by Edward Blum, who was behind the efforts to overturn affirmative action, sued Fearless Fund in August, alleging that its Strivers Grant program discriminates against non-Black women. Judge Robert Luck and Andrew Brasher, both appointed by President Donald Trump, agreed with the AAER, calling the grant “racially exclusionary” and said it likely violated Section 1981 of the Civil Rights Act of 1866, which barred racial discrimination in contracts. (https://techcrunch.com/) If #fearlessfund win...WE win. If #fearlessfund lose. WE lose. Personify your allyship and learn more about the happenings of this case and show support. Let's evolve together! #InformationBecomesRevelation #KeepGrowingandShowing #letsevolvetogether #EquityMatters #inclusionmatters #Diversitymatters #CentricOrgs #fearlessfund

When we talk about gender parity in leadership, it’s common to focus on the most senior roles. It’s much more challenging to set measures that tackle gender parity across the full leadership pipeline. As woman I totally appreciate that our VP is listening to us through this great initiative. #Halliburton #Wireline #Wirelinewomenrock
This week got the privilege to sponsor our first Wireline Women’s Summit, a 3 day forum focused on building the network of the amazing women in our product line and discussing the unique issues that face this group. Today is the final day and am excited to see the team’s recommendations! A special thanks to Tatiana Lucic and Martin Coronado for curating and delivering the program. As well to the awesome executives who came to tell their stories, Summer Condarco, Kristin Valicevic, Kristin Lipski. Also Holly McTague, head of WSE (Women Sharing Excellence) for chairing all our panel discussions and Melissa Sowell for organizing community service event for the Houston Area Women’s Shelter! #halliburton #wireline #wirelinewomenrock

#GivingTuesday is about so much more than financial transactions. It's about transformation! U.S. nonprofits dedicated to women and girls consistently receive less than 2% of giving. Today, rewrite that narrative and help us ensure more girls throughout our community have access to our one-of-a-kind program. Girls on the Run stands apart from the rest through our intentional research-based curriculum, highly trained coaches, and a strong commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, and access. Give today and help us maintain our mission! https://lnkd.in/gv9A5FX5

🌟 Empowering the Fearless Fund: Standing Strong in the Face of Legal Challenge 🌟 At the Elizabeth-Gaye Foundation, we deeply support causes promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion. Today, we’d like to shed light on the Fearless Fund and the challenges they are currently facing. The Fearless Fund is dedicated to leveling the playing field for women of color in entrepreneurship. Their mission is driven by the staggering fact that only 1% of all funding goes to Black women business owners. Since 2019, they’ve tirelessly worked to change this statistic, aiming to provide women of color with equal access to resources critical for business success in and worldwide. However, their vital work has encountered a legal challenge. They are being sued by a group led by conservative activist Edward Blum, who alleges "explicit racial exclusion" in the Fearless Fund’s grant program. This lawsuit is part of a broader legal pushback against diversity efforts in the corporate world. Despite these challenges, the Fearless Fund remains resolute in its mission. They continue to empower women of color-led businesses, offering opportunities for pre-seed, seed-level, or series A financing. These women are the unsung heroes driving economic growth, creating jobs, generating revenue, and strengthening communities. 🙌Now, it's our moment to support their cause! 🙌 Here's how you can make a difference: Sign the Letter: Join the movement by adding your name to the Fight for Fearless Freedom letter, advocating for justice and equality. Donate to the Fearless Foundation: Every contribution counts, helping black female founders in the United States and abroad. Let's stand together and uplift these incredible women who are breaking barriers and reshaping the business landscape, even in the face of adversity. When they succeed, we all succeed. https://lnkd.in/ghEg43_5 #FearlessFreedom #DiversityandInclusion #SupportChange #EmpowerWomen #LegalChallenge
