What are the main behaviours that staff on exhibition stands exhibit (pardon the pun) that scare visitors away? Should the industry introduce 'temporary jail' for these obscene breaches of sales & marketing code or force these staff to drink trade show coffee? 🤓 DON'T BE A WALLY 🔴 ⚪ Exhibiters can often be like a 'where's wally game' - You spend ages searching for Wally as he blends into the crowd.... Well that's the opposite of what you, as an exhibitor want to achieve at an expo. You've spent the time, money, resources into advertising your business at one of these events so you want results, right? 😴 From a delegate perspective, I enter the room and start discussions with stand after stand. By the end of it I'm at full capacity of information. I leave the event and pretty much that information starts to drift. Business doesn't have to be boring. Don't blend into a crowded background and expect your audience to remember you or your brand as there are numerous other stands that were present that also had sweets on offer, free pens, maybe 'guess how many sweets in a jar' etc etc People will forget what you said but they'll always remember how you made them feel. A Decade at Expo West! It’s that time of year again. When I first began attending Natural Products Expo West a decade ago in 2014, I was blown away by the excitement, the enormity and the elegance of what appeared to be hundreds of thousands of people coming together for one cause, providing the world with better-for-you natural products. This is the place to get your finger on the pulse of industry trends, statistics culled from tens of thousands of products, buyers and sellers, and learnings from industry leaders for every part of your business. Let’s not forget sampling everything in natural products under the sun. I’m looking forward to seeing the usual suspects of friends and colleagues I’ve made over the years and making new friends. This is the face of a man post Expo West 2023 - equal parts exhausted and energized. Our dinner table will be getting a bit bigger this year with our Vizer dinner next Thursday (s/o Jenna Arocha for planning!) But until then, it’s all about the pre-show prep to maximize endurance and stamina. My favorite tips for the trade show: 1. Wear comfortable shoes (made that mistake in 2021). 2. Plan where to meet friends in advance; service is the first thing to go. 3. Do not - I repeat - do not fill up on snacks on day 1. 4. Hydrate responsibly (cc: Connor Saeli / Waterboy). 5. Deals are won or lost at the post-show happy hours - show up! Are you going to be there? Let’s meet up. 🤝

Make sure the attendees align with your target market to maximise your chances of attracting visitors to your stand.
