Graduating from Riverdale Country in New York, he began his career on the shop floor of Tata Steel. After a decade of hard work, he became the director-in-charge of National Radio and Electronics Company Limited (NEL.CO), striving to improve its financial struggles. His journey was not without challenges; the economic recession and union strikes thwarted his efforts in building a better consumer electronics division. However, this setback became a stepping stone, leading him to be appointed as the chairman of the Tata Group. Ratan Tata's resilience and willingness to make tough decisions were evident when Tata Group launched the Tata Indica in 1998. Despite initial failure, Tata persevered. Advised to sell the passenger car business, even considering an offer from Ford, Tata stood firm. The rejection fueled his determination. In 2008, when Ford faced bankruptcy, Tata Group seized an opportunity. Bill Ford acknowledged Tata's favor by selling Jaguar and Land Rover. Despite initial skepticism, Tata turned the tables, and today, these brands thrive under Tata Group ownership. Tata Indica was a first Indian car , though was a popular car by its population on roads but a failed car because of its intrigued quality issues, may be minor but irritating ones. After few years , Tata Motors introduced new improved models made headline being safest cars and also electric cars but few quality issues always ? Let me also mention that Tata group especially Tata Motors has been a front runner in various Quality activities in India. Nowadays, we start businesses with profit and loss in mind rather than focusing on the core purpose. Learning from Ratan Tata Vision: 1. It doesn't matter which government comes and goes; never get involved in any arguments about it. 2. He did not launch any car with profit as the primary goal; instead, he focused on addressing the problems people were facing. 3. Many Tata cars were not successful both before and after the launch of the Indica. However, Ratan Tata did not lose his patience 4. Always keep an eye on your competitors; they might disrespect you at some point. When they do, respond by taking bold actions, such as acquiring Jaguar Land Rover (JLR). 5. Day 311 : What is golden Opportunity ? Tata Motors was trading at 530 rupees in 2016. In 2020, it fell to 70 rupees. But since then, it has recovered and is now trading at 625 rupees. For people who invested in Tata Motors in 2020, it has been a 7-bagger (meaning their investment has increased 7 times). But for people who invested in 2016, it has only been a 13% gain. Every asset has a price at which it is a good investment, and a price at which it is a bad investment. I bought Tata Motors at around 300 rupees, and it is now worth twice that. So, I have made a 2-bagger. The stock market is not an easy way to make money. You need to know when to buy and when to sell.
