I often get asked what is it that I love about what we do. I could (and often do) talk for hours about this. There are so many aspects, such as; - the visibility it provides you of a whole pelathora of companies, how they operate, their challenges the development journeys….seeing how others do it (good, bad or just differently) I hope has helped me hone my skills for my business - the important aspect of skills, it is so essential in STEM that we are all doing our bit to develop the future talent. We know so well at Matchtech the speed at which these technical skills are developing, and it is nuts. An extra positive it keeps you so well tuned to the evolving world. Plus it’s pleasing to see our clients and candidates being increasingly cognisant of the need for soft skills across all markets. - providing sliding door moments to an individual. I don’t get to do it as much these days, but our business has that buzz of positively impacting someone’s life thousands of times a year. The feeling when you say ‘they want you’….or…..’they want to join you’. That’s so rewarding. - clearly a huge part is the amazing Gattaca colleagues and energy that you get to be around, day in day out. It’s infectious, inspiring and I hope will keep me young over the years to come. However the one that doesn’t get talked about as much but is one I often reflect on, is the number of people I now class as good friends who I’ve met through work. I look at my mobile phone and wonder how many people in there I could call if I was properly in the poop and know they’d do anything they could to help. I’m so lucky that there are many….and many of them have become friends through first working together as a supplier and customer. As such it was awesome to catch up with a couple of those this week in Dallas. No photo of Paul (albeit great to see him and the family doing so well stateside) but a cracker with Dilshan and the team. PS you two should catch up, you live a stones throw from each other. Or we’ll just have to get you both up on stage at an industry event sometime soon!! 👍🏻 #stemtalent #peoplebusiness
