World Cleanup Day is an annual global event that aims to raise awareness of the global solid waste problem and to mobilize volunteers to clean up litter and waste from their communities. It is coordinated by the global organization Let's Do It! World, and is celebrated on the third Saturday of September. The theme for World Cleanup Day 2023 is "Harnessing the power of everyday people to achieve incredible things by joining together." This theme reflects the power of collective action to make a difference in the fight against climate change and environmental degradation. In 2022, over 18 million people from 192 countries participated in World Cleanup Day. They collected over 21 million pounds of trash. This year, organizers are hoping to reach even more people and collect even more trash. If you are interested in participating in World Cleanup Day, you can find more information on the Let's Do It! World website. You can also find a cleanup event near you by using the website's event finder tool. Here are some other things you can do to help make a difference on World Cleanup Day: Spread the word about the event to your friends and family. Donate to a local environmental organization that is working to combat the waste problem. Make changes to your own lifestyle to reduce your waste production. Every little bit helps! By working together, we can make a difference for our planet. Here are some additional facts about World Cleanup Day: The first World Cleanup Day was held in Estonia in 2008. The event has since grown to involve millions of people from around the world. In 2021, the event collected over 21 million pounds of trash. The most common items found during cleanups are plastic bottles, food wrappers, and cigarette butts. World Cleanup Day is a great way to get involved in your community and make a difference for the environment. - https://marckvalves.com #valves #marck #manufacturer #oilvalves #gasvalves #gujarat #valvesoil #hawaengineer #hawa #valvegujarat #valveindia #chennai #liquidvalves #chemicalvalve

At B'ZEOS, every day is #SeaweedDay! Seaweed, also known as macro-algae, is quite the miracle crop. Here are some highlights: 🌱 Grows 30-60x times faster than land-based crops. 🌱Acts as a natural #carbonsink, absorbing up to 17 million tons of carbon each year. 🌱Does not require finite resources such as land and freshwater to grow, avoiding competition with #food production. By harnessing the regenerative powers of seaweed, B'ZEOS is driving innovation to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (#SDGs) by providing jobs for coastal communities, reducing pollution, enabling secure food systems, and protecting the oceans. Seaweed for the #future! What's your favorite fun fact about seaweed? Tell us below 👇

Ka pai Raglan Food Co for taking ambitious action and achieving Toitū climate positive certification! 🙌 Raglan's been a proud Toitū net carbonzero member since 2018. Their continued dedication to reducing emissions, collaborating with their value chain, and promoting wider social outcomes is a testament to the notion that there is no ‘done’ when it comes to our climate. Their climate initiatives include: ⚫ A Community Fund that has provided over $20,000 in grants to social and environmental initiatives in the local community. ⚫ The 1 Million Pieces Project, which has already cleaned up over 940,000 pieces of plastic from beaches across Aotearoa. ⚫ The Reforged project - recycling their waste coconut cream drums into beautiful braziers that are available at Bunnings stores throughout the country. This is what climate leadership looks like. #ClimatePositive #decarbonisation #circularity #ReduceEmissions

🍫 Last week I visited Chocoa in Amsterdam and spoke to a number of large and small cocoa and chocolate companies. My first learning from the show: the market is finally waking up to the potential of **reductions**. 🪓 Even for established plantations, a large part of their emissions are caused by the continuous decrease in shade cover over a long period of time. If we follow the correct definitions, these emissions are not classified as ‘land-use change’ but as ‘land management’. 🌱 Previously companies used to focus their supply-chain climate projects on removals (planting new trees), but I was happy to meet cocoa companies that are moving their focus to reductions: preventing shade trees from being cut down. Reducing emissions by rewarding farmers is exactly what we launched Carble for. ⬇️ Here’s a diagram of how land-use change and land-management emissions would look for a plantation that was established in 2019 and has seen a drop in shade cover since. Interestingly, the land-management emissions from this drop in shade cover are much higher than the land-use change emissions from the original deforestation. #chocoa #cocoa #chocolate #netzero #sbti #climate

International Tiger Day 2023. 🐅 On this International Tiger Day, we would love it if you'd take a moment to appreciate the tiger's majestic beauty and awe-inspiring presence. And let's also acknowledge the unfortunate truth that this critically endangered species is on the verge of extinction. Wild tiger populations have plummeted by over 95% since the early 1900s. This drastic decline is attributed to several factors, including habitat loss, illegal wildlife trade, poaching, and human-wildlife conflict. DOW Group UK is a sustainable waste management company based in Cumbernauld, Scotland. We strive to make a positive difference. DOW Group UK goes above and beyond in their mission to protect the environment. Whether it is industrial waste from North Lanarkshire, construction waste from Perth, or domestic waste from Aberdeen, we strive to minimise the need for landfill and maximise the potential for reuse. DOW's commitment to recycling and reusing materials is not just an act of responsibility but also a decisive step towards conserving our planet's resources. By reducing our reliance on extracting resources from the Earth, we can help create a more sustainable future for all. So, on this International Tiger Day, let us not only marvel at the beauty of tigers but also reflect upon our impact on the environment and consider what actions we can personally take to protect and preserve our planet and its precious inhabitants Read more about International Tiger Day 2023: https://lnkd.in/dVr8mu4. It's #WorldOceansDay! Let's dive deep to protect our blue planet. This year's theme, "Awaken New Depths," calls on all of us to explore the wonders of the ocean and take action to ensure its health. Here in the UK, we're surrounded by stunning coastlines and a rich marine environment, and we need to do all we can to protect them. What can you do to help? ➡️ Support ocean conservation charities. There are many fantastic organisations doing important work, like the Marine Conservation Society or The Ocean Cleanup. ➡️ Reduce your plastic use. ️ Single-use plastics are a major threat to marine life. Invest in a reusable water bottle and shopping bags. ➡️ Enjoy sustainable seafood. Look for the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) label when buying fish. This ensures it has been caught responsibly. ➡️ Learn more! There are countless resources available online to deepen your understanding of the ocean's importance. Martek Marine is committed to responsible practices that protect our oceans, and we're always looking for ways to minimise our environmental impact. Let's work together to #AwakenNewDepths and ensure a healthy ocean for generations to come!
