We are proud to announce that we have received grants from the NextGenerationEU Recovery and Resilience Facility. A big thank you to Työ- ja elinkeinoministeriö – Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment (Finland) for making this possible. In Finland, electricity consumption has increased by 5% over the last 20 years, but it's projected to rise by more than 50% in the next 20 years. Additionally, our production and consumption profiles have changed drastically; for example, district heating, which used to generate electricity, now requires electricity to provide heat. The intermittent nature of renewable energy is a challenge. While we are committed to phasing out fossil fuels, this transition is not without its difficulties. Implementing the right technology and having the courage to move forward are crucial. How can we increase the deployment of renewables without creating highly volatile electricity supplies? The answer lies in finding the right mix of renewable energy production and energy storage solutions. We are dedicated to working with EU Member States to become more resilient, sustainable, and achieve the EU's climate neutrality target by 2050. This will prepare us better for the challenges and opportunities presented by the green and digital transitions. P.S. Data center companies, keep coming to Finland. We offer clean and affordable electricity! #BESS

More Swissness for the Swiss solar industry: Meyer Burger Technology AG 🤝 Helion Energy AG 🤝 AMAG Group enter into strategic partnership. We are pleased about our new alliance to strengthen the Swiss and European #solar industry. 💪 🚀🔆 The AMAG Group will preferentially use Meyer Burger solar modules for all of its own photovoltaic plants yet to be built, such as the CHF 25 million new building currently under construction at its Academy in Lupfig. Together with Helion AG, a member of the AMAG Group, we are committed to rebuilding the photovoltaic value chain in Switzerland, since Switzerland currently imports over 90 percent of its solar modules from Asian countries. The partnership will enable us to secure jobs, pioneering spirit, and important know-how in Europe, and to develop and offer sustainable solutions for the future. As part of its climate strategy, the AMAG Group will build around 75,000 m² of solar plants at its own sites by 2025. ☀️☀️☀️ “I am very pleased that with Helion and Meyer Burger, two Swiss companies are contributing to the diversification of energy supply and the rebuilding of the Swiss and European solar industry,” says Helmut Ruhl, CEO of the AMAG Group. A new kid in #energystorage town, and a quite unique one: EU body EIT InnoEnergy yesterday launched “Repono”, a company meant to own and operate energy storage assets across the continent. They target a whopping 10% share of the 2030 storage market, which they expect to be at 1TWh. Initial shareholders include French Schneider Electric, Nordic Stena Metall Group, German machinery manufacturing group NTM Group, the energy division of a French supermarket chain SIPLEC - E.LECLERC and Polish manufacturing conglomerate Boryszew S.A. As expected from a EU body, quite a pan-European group. But what problem is Repono trying to solve? In a nutshell, the company's main target is to facilitate the integration of variable renewable energy generation through energy storage as a source of flexibility. That's always a good thing, but somehow the overall target of all companies active in the storage industry. So what's different? It's probably the network and investment portfolio of EIT InnoEnergy. There are more than 46 investments and 800+ members in the "European Battery Alliance" Repono will have access to. According to CEO Diego Pavla, “these unique starting conditions will greatly de-risk Repono’s business and enable the company to quickly replicate projects across Europe". My initial take aways: -Every initiative that supports and aims to accelerate energy storage deployment in Europe is appreciated. -The biggest problem, however, is not a lack of competitive, well financed players in the market but a still sluggish support of energy storage in regulations, such as the National Energy and Climate Plans (NECP) - see related post here: https://lnkd.in/e82KzSJj. There is no lack of capital if there are returns. -However, through Repono the EU has more "skin in the game" and it can be assumed that barriers will be removed more swiftly to not slow down their own ambitions - which all industry players will benefit from. -Last but not least, given the predominantly upstream focus of initial shareholders, investments and network, I wonder whether Repono's value chain coverage will be really limited to "owning and operating" assets or at least parts of the developer role will be covered as well. What's your view on this? Thanks Energy-Storage.news for being a main source of information. I am excited to share breaking news about an initiative in Chile that will increase our operational use of renewable energy and help support electromobility along the Camino Nogales Puchuncaví. For the first time in Chile, Aleatica is incorporating the use of solar energy as an integral part of our operations by installing 167 photovoltaic panels that will power operational consumption. This is a significant step toward an increase of the use of renewable energy within our company. This 43-kilometer project, which includes enhancements to route F-20 and a new bypass, includes an electric charging station with the aim of deriving 80% of its energy from sustainable sources. Together, these strategies will help reduce the carbon footprint for this concession by 35% by 2030. This project in Chile is another example of Aleatica’s long-term commitment to building and operating sustainable transportation infrastructure. #SustainableInfrastructure

Fuzion A/S and Nordic Solar have entered into a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for Højby solar park, which commences on 1 January 2025 at the latest. To Fuzion, located in Skanderborg, which supplies data centre infrastructure to customers with business-critical IT systems, the agreement is a natural part of the company's ambition of more sustainable IT operations: "IT operations encompass a number of invisible environmental impacts which we have a strong desire to reduce. In part because we have an ambition to contribute to the green transition, but also because we see an increasing demand from our customers for being able to choose green power. Our new agreement with Nordic Solar and Højby solar park implies that we can now, to a greater extent, meet these demands," says CEO of Fuzion, Christian Holm Christensen. The PPA between Nordic Solar and Fuzion will consume 13 GWh. The agreement has been drafted in collaboration between Nordic Solar and the energy group EWII. #renewableenergy #collaboration #solarenergy

A $1 billion investment from the Australian government and a partnership between SunDrive and AGL will see the former coal-fired Liddell Power Station transformed into a solar manufacturing hub. The partnership was announced alongside Solar SunShot, a federal program aiming to see the number of Australian-made solar panels skyrocket. While one in three households have solar panels, only 1% of these solar panels are manufactured locally, a statistic the program aims to change. The program aims to change the statistics with subsidies and grants and bolsters the NSW Government's commitment to leverage procurement spending for agreements with local solar manufacturers. AGL and SunDrive are exploring an off-take agreement for AGL to purchase SunDrive's solar panels, which will give the company a direct line to the customers of one of Australia's largest solar distributors and installers. “Our vision for the Hunter Energy Hub is to create a low carbon integrated energy hub – designed with circular economy principles – that brings together industries that can make a positive contribution to the energy transition,” said AGL managing director and CEO Damien Nicks. #solarpanelmanufacturing #solarpanels #manufacturing #Liddell #cleanenergy #cleanenergyopportunities #investregionalnsw #hunter #solar #solarsunshot
