Part TWO: HRSG FLOW PROCESS SYSTEM Step 4: Superheater Section Superheater Coils: The partially dried steam from the steam drum is further heated in the superheater coils to reach the desired temperature for the steam turbine. Superheater Outlet Damper: Regulates the flow of steam leaving the superheater, controlling the temperature and pressure. Step 5: Steam Outlet Section Steam Outlet Duct: The superheated steam exits the HRSG through a steam outlet duct, which is connected to the steam turbine. Safety Valves: Safety valves are installed to prevent excessive pressure buildup in the HRSG and protect the equipment from damage. Steam Flow Meter: Measures the steam flow rate to monitor the HRSG's performance and ensure it is producing the required steam for the steam turbine. Step 6: Flue Gas Outlet Section Flue Gas Stack: The flue gas, after transferring its heat to the water/steam, exits the HRSG through a flue gas stack and is released into the atmosphere. Stack Damper: Controls the flue gas flow rate and helps in maintaining the HRSG's internal pressure. Step 7: Water/Steam Cycle and Chemical Treatment Water Treatment System: HRSGs require high-quality water to prevent corrosion and scale formation in the boiler tubes. A water treatment system is employed to purify the water before it enters the HRSG. Chemical Injection System: Various chemicals are added to the water to maintain the proper pH level and prevent corrosion. Condensate and Feedwater Pumps: These pumps are responsible for circulating the condensate (returning steam) and feedwater (water makeup) throughout the HRSG. #HRSG #HeatRecovery #SteamGenerator #PowerPlant #CombinedCycle #EnergyEfficiency #HeatExchange #GasTurbine #SteamTurbine #PowerGeneration #ProcessFlow #Equipment #EnergyIndustry #RenewableEnergy #SustainableSolutions #Engineering #IndustrialAutomation #WaterTreatment #SuperheaterCoils #EconomizerSection #SteamDrum #FlueGasStack #SafetyValves #WaterPump #CondensatePumps

Gas side fouling case study, Another Heat Recovery Steam Generator cleaning project carried out successfully in South America. This case study demonstrates the complexity of the cleaning work to address the cleaning in the deeper tube rows of each HRSG section. I had the pleasure of selling and managing the execution of this project with a team of technicians trained and committed to delivering results with quality and safety. The project was carried out with eleven twelve-hour shifts during the Plant's outage as planned. One of the milestones was the hard work of quality control to ensure the best cleaning result of the plurality of tubes in each section of the HRSG heat exchanger. Multiple borescope inspections (before and after cleaning) on each HRSG tubes section were necessary to verify the effectiveness of the deep cleaning process, constantly adapting tools and techniques to achieve the expected cleaning result. Upon completion of the project, the combined cycle plant had a restoration of output power of more than 8 MWh identified by HRSG modeling, providing annual savings of 3.2 million Dollars. #hrsgdeepcleaning #powerplant #combinedcycle #dryice

We're excited to exhibit for the first time at this year's Utility Week Live at Birmingham’s NEC Arena, on the 21st & 22nd May. Stop by our stand D22 and learn why we’re global market leaders in hot tapping, line stopping and isolation pigging. Get up close with our game changing equipment and hear all about the exciting projects we’ve been doing for the gas networks onshore in the UK. ✅ Do you want to enable isolation projects previously thought impossible due to tight space or inclined pipe? ✅ Do you want leak-tight isolations and reduced P9 welding and under pressure drilling operations to improve safety? ✅ If so, our BISEP line stopping tool can help to improve safety and save cost! As we transition to hydrogen and the path to net zero, STATS’ leak-tight temporary isolation tools that improve safety and reduce emissions are more important than ever. We look forward to seeing you there! #UWL #UWL24 #utilityweeklive #statsgroup #utilities #hottapping

New edition just released from API STD 534: Heat Recovery Steam Generators for Combustion Turbine Exhaust Applications Key Points: Scope: The standard covers water tube drum type HRSGs specifically designed for use downstream of combustion turbines in oil and gas applications. Operating Conditions: These HRSGs operate under typical conditions up to 14,000 kPa (g) (2030 psig) and 565 °C (1050 °F). Evaporator System: The design utilizes a natural circulation evaporator system. Main changes: Standardization: By transitioning from a recommended practice to a standard, API STD 534 provides clear and consistent guidelines for HRSG design, materials, fabrication, inspection, testing, preparation for shipment, and erection. Focus on Specific Applications: The scope now specifically targets HRSGs downstream of combustion turbines in oil and gas applications, ensuring relevance and precision. Complementary Standard: For other types of HRSGs, such as those not downstream of combustion turbines, API RP 669 (Heat Recovery Systems) remains the go-to resource.

Placed on the top deck, the DBB-SAVER allowed safe venting of gas upwards. 4. Full-pressure-rated hoses connected the three bleed points, and the rupture disc connection was directly linked to the DBB-SAVER. 5. This prevented gas release within the topside modules, crucial in a 3-dimensional explosion-safe zoned offshore structure. In summary, the DBB-SAVER played a vital role in maintaining safety, compliance, and uninterrupted gas production on the NAM L9-FF-1 platform in the North Sea. Its design is adapted for offshore conditions while following the same working principle as the onshore version. #VALVETIGHT #DBBSAVER #SustainableSolutions #GHGEmissionReduction #EnergyEfficiency #EnvironmentalCompliance #SafetyFirst #ConfinedSpace #Shutdown #DayaSinga

VFO-5000 Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) The VFO-5000 Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) is an interactive 3D virtual training environment that enables the learner to better understand and visualize the real world operating environment. The Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) program represents a typical steam generator found in a Combined Heat and Power Plant (CHP). Waste heat from gas turbine exhaust or process heater flue gas is recovered by generating high pressure steam in the HSRG. The Boiler Feedwater Pumps provide water to the Steam Drum. The HRSG has coils for preheating boiler feedwater, steam generation and steam superheating. Superheated steam is routed to steam users such as a steam turbine for electric power generation.

This paper is a collaboration between... Wales & West Utilities (Lead GDN) Northern Gas Networks National Grid Gas Plc SGN Pipeline Integrity Engineers Ltd An interesting point to note from this paper is how the smallest defects can pose the greatest risk because if the same current is present at a smaller surface area, the current density and therefore corrosion rate is higher If a pipe has a high quality modern FBE coating and AC interference is present. The smallest defects are where the current will leave the pipe and take the metal with it. "The use of DCVG can lead to a situation where numerous small coating defects are located. In such cases following excavation of the largest defects, it may be possible to prove that the remaining indications have a negligible effect on pipeline corrosion and can be discounted. However in areas where AC interference effects are present it is the smallest defects that pose the highest risk to pipeline integrity and shall be given a high priority for excavation and inspection." #cathodicprotection #corrosionprotection #pipelineintegrity

When it comes to power plant simulation and optimization underestimating the importance of HRSG is not logical, HRSG as the main device for heat recovery from gas turbine hot gases plays a crucial role in increasing the overall efficiency of the whole system. here is a simple but really effective calculation in this field. #hrsg #powerplant #simulation #processengineering #mechanicalengineering #energyengineering #energyefficiency #energymanagement #gtg #
