These are facts that have been more solidified through developments and expanded knowledge in neurodevelopment. Yet, many in the field due to societal preconceptions and bias struggle to implement methodologies that compliment this understanding. We have come so far and still have a long way to go in truly adopting practices that help advance the neurodevelopment and essentially the individuals criminality or delinquency.

Did you know that the criminal justice system treats adults and juveniles differently? Since 1899, juveniles have been recognized as not having the same developed mind as adults. They simply do not have the ability to recognize the consequences of their actions in the same way. However, while adults have the mental capacity to understand the consequences of their actions, juveniles do not. This is an important consideration in the criminal justice system. #criminaljustice #juveniles #rehabilitation #deterrence
