At Stacker, we love to partner with news organizations to cover important topics and create engaging stories that inform readers. This month, we collaborated with Newsweek on an election scoop based on FEC data analysis by our very own Elena Cox. Newsweek’s White House correspondent Daniel Bush rounded out Elena’s data work and visualizations with boots-on-the-ground reporting. These efforts culminated in the story you can read below. Taking storytelling to the next level with rich data analysis and visualizations sets Stacker stories apart—and we love working with news outlets and brands to do just that. Interested? It's slightly unethical to post, but it's too funny and appreciative not to share 💙 At Masthead Data, we monitor not just anomalies and metrics for tables but also pipeline health. In a way, we shadow every process in our clients' data platforms, helping them to pinpoint the 'unknown unknowns'—most frequently, this covers pipeline and model performance. The ugly truth is that, as human beings, we would rather not know about those problems. We have a client whose team is actually committed to solving those pipeline issues. They are working hard on it, but it requires much effort from multiple teams to strategically improve their data platform. And I enjoy sneak peeking at how one of their senior managers keeps praying to ( 🙏 ) or thanking the team for their efforts in fixing things. Btw, they are doing a great job, so it might take you a little bit of pray/appreciation 🙏 to fix your data platform, too. #appreciationpost #dataplatform

🔍 A Day in the Life of a Data Analyst 📈 9 AM: Open laptop. Coffee? Check. Excel? Check. Magic crystal ball? Missing. Noon: Just discovered that half of yesterday's dataset is in Klingon. #LostInTranslation 3 PM: Explaining to my computer that 'Please stop crashing' is not just a polite suggestion. 💻 6 PM: Found a correlation between 'Number of Post-its used' and 'Job satisfaction.' Coincidence? 📌 9 PM: Convinced the data is gaslighting me. 🤯 12 AM: Dreaming in pie charts...or nightmares? 🥧 In summary, the life of a data analyst is a rollercoaster of emotions, tangled data, and the eternal quest for that elusive 'Eureka!' moment. 😅 #DataLife #DataProblems #DataHumor"

Highly analytical and personable data nerd with 15 years digital marketing experience. I am brilliant at communication and have a passion for learning and helping others grow.
We’re looking to change up our reporting at Fountain and have begun a long scary👻 journey into data warehousing 📈🏭. I say scary because it’s so much more technical that I first anticipated and there is huge amounts of brain power going into the backend build. I’m learning so much! Special shout out to measurement superstar, Daisy Sajnog ✨ and the team at Supermetrics for their 🧠🧠 large brains 🧠🧠. Like most people at Fountain, I’m a massive data nerd 🤓. Plop me in a spreadsheet and let me play with data and I’m happy. I’m really excited about this new project because: ⚡⚡ Our reports are going to load like lightning 🏄🏄 We’re investing in slick visualisations 🥜🥜 We can crunch huge data sets, so watch out for sector/industry and trend analysis 1️⃣ What do you like to see in monthly reporting? 2️⃣ Does anybody have any experience of taking the data warehousing leap? 3️⃣ If you could be a graph, which would you pick? And why? I think I’d be a radar chart, because I just really like them. Then pie. 📡🥧 #crunchy #datawarehousing #nerds

Simplicity fosters respect and trust Your stakeholders will always respect your work if you bring simplicity and transparency. We are not trying to obfuscate with the technical details of analysis. Your stakeholders are not interested in those. You are trying to distill knowledge from a set of data. If you can explain how you do that with NO technical terms you will make a lot of friends. Imagine it as a crafting session. You have a craft table, a pair of scissors, some colored pens, some glitter, poster board and glue. Then, you grab your table of data. How do you fold it and shape it to bring out the highlights. You have the power to explain. Shared knowledge is a thing of beauty. #data #database #dataanalysis
