When we worked with Sensoteq on developing the Kappa X Wireless Vibration Sensor, our first item on the wish list was a sensor which was able to measure up to 10kHz with the ability to trend the PK-PK waveform values in G's. This is a great example of why these features are key in monitoring critical assets. The 10kHz range allowing the fault to be detected and the PK-PK Waveform for severity tracking of the fault. A lot of faults such as cavitation like in this case or early bearing faults often manifest themselves in the higher frequency range. If the sensor you are using cannot measure in the higher frequency range, these faults cannot be measured or tracked.
